“Overpriced for what you get”
Reviewed 27 June 2012

We spent three nights here. First the good: the staff is uber friendly and helpful; the location is right across from the train station and walking distance (even with bags) from Piazzale Roma. Now the bad: they didn't have the reservation despite their having confirmed it (OK - everyone's human). The room - a canal view - was large enough, but a bit worn and dated. The rug had not been cleaned in a while. Still, all OK for a two star hotel--but not for a three. And the prices. Way over the top for what you get.

I can't really reconcile the other reviews with our experience of the facility -- especially given the price.

My wife and I have just returned from 5 nights at the Antichi Figure. The hotel was really great.
Our room overlooking the grand canal was everything we could have wished for, comfortable ,light and airy and beautifully furnished. The hotel staff were attentive and helpful but not intrusive. The location is extremely good , allowing exploration of the Cannaregio sestieri with its hidden gems plus easy access to all the other well known attractions .

Room Tip: We stayed in room 212 ,its three windows with views of the canal cannot be beaten

This is a great place to stay in Venice. It is across the canal from the train station and the staff were so gracious and helpful. They discovered they overbooked the day we arrived, but put us up a few blocks away in their4 star sister hotel, which was very, very nice. They took care of getting our luggage back and forth and making us feel at ease. The breakfast in the morning was fabulous; everything was fresh, lots of fruits, pastries, yogurt, cereal, meats, breads. it could have been the meal of the day, plus plenty of cappuccinos. The room itself was quite comfortable with a small desk, plenty of room in the bath; clean and relaxing.

My niece and I had a wonderful stay in early May. As others have pointed out, the location near the train station is great.
Our room was lovely - with a great view. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially so when we left early in the morning. We enjoyed Daniel's humour!
For two people it was a great room. Yes, it is a little pricey but I am not familiar with the pricing of comparable hotels.

Only stayed the one night here and mainly choose it because of the close location to the train station as we were leaving for Florence the following morning. Lovely hotel, friendly staff, and its was great to be able to sit outside eating breakfast and watching the world go by :-)

Our room was a good size for Venice standards as was the bathroom too, however it was quite a depressing outlook, as we looked out to a brick wall....not sure if I could have put up with the room for longer than the one night but the rest of the hotel was great

On arrival we were greeted warmly by the lady at reception. She went to great efforts drawing a map of where we could walk in the area, and making recommendations of places to eat and visit. Our room (with the canopy bed) was in a separate building along the narrow road to the side of the main hotel. The room was quiet, cool (on such a hot day) and beautifully decorated. It was also spotlessly clean. Its a great location on the Grand Canal, but walking distance from the train station and Pl. Roma too. The breakfast the following morning was plentiful, taken outside watching the boats and people go by on the Grand Canal.

Near by I would recommend the gondola ride around 30 minutes before sunset when the Grand Canal is so peaceful, and beautiful. There is a station outside the hotel and also opposite. Also on the opposite side of the Grand Canal (over the main bridge and to the right) there is a lovely restaurant with tables along the canal side. Slightly out from the tourist trail and really good.

Would definitely recommend this hotel, and will stay again if we return to Venice.

We have been to Venice a few times before and love it in spite of it being noisy and expensive. We were looking for a quiet hotel for one night before flying home and we hestitated to stay in Venice, but it turned out great. They let us check in early and when we asked for a quiet room, they let us choose between two quiet rooms on the top floor in the back. Once we chose, the room was quickly cleaned and we were able to move in. The hotel is directly across from the train station. There is one high bridge over the Grand Canal that is all steps, but there were some porters available (at a 10 euro charge for two bags). We happily took them up on it. The next day we pulled our rolling luggage over two low bridges to get to Piazzale Roma to catch our bus to the airport (at the second bridge, turn left away from the Grand Canal and then take the next bridge to the right to avoid a few stairs.) We got our bus tickets and checked out the walk the day before. We slept wonderfully in a quiet room even with the window open and had breakfast before 7 AM. All this and we had a wonderful day in Venice, the last day of our trip.
