“Great if you like Veronese!”

Chiesa di San Sebastiano

Lovely church, which we visited in a bit of a hurry! We went to see the majolica glass floor in one of the chapels, but (fortunately and unfortunately) it had been taken up for refurbishment. However, there was a chapel/sacristy with many veronese paintings depicting various biblical scenes and the organ had beautifully painted shutters, which was quite unusual for churches in Venice.

The Church of San Sebastiano could renew one's religious belief and ardor to be closer to the Heavenly God! Entering it gives a unique experience of reliving the past. . . . how to be a Christian in those days. The solemnity of the place can always make the visit in a very personal mode to be closer to God.

It's in a part of the city that seems more real and less touristy
