One of the many churches in Venice. It has a distinctive beautiful marble work on the façade and the interior. Very different from most churches in Italy. Inside you receive a brochure with the story of the church and you can spend few quite minutes on one of the benches bathing in the serenity of the interior created by the quite atmosphere and the beautiful lighting.

It is worth a visit if you have the Venice Chorus Pass that is a great choice if you are planning on visiting 5 or more churches in Venice (it cost 12 eur and gives you access to 15 of the most popular churches in the city) or on your way to the Burano vaporetto station. Otherwise I wouldn't come explicitly to visit this church.

This church was restored not long ago and the exterior marbles, pink, white, and green, show well, just like the day it was built in in the mid-1400s, as I recall. The painting it was built to house is well lighted and displayed. The roof needs attention as it leaks and water spotting has damaged some of the scenes depicted on the ceiling. This is not a large cathedral - in fact, it's quite small and hemmed in by other buildings - and it was refreshing to see something everyday people from the neighborhood still use. I guess the best way to say it is Santa Maria dei Miracoli has a very human scale to it. Plus, we were the only visitors at the time we entered - ahhh, no crowds. We visited it in the rain on our last day in Venice and were able to get a couple of nice photos of the exterior. Easy to walk to, you can see it all in ten minutes, and we recommend you make the investment of time to visit the church.

.... churches in similar style in Venice, all of which I liked a lot. You can somehow sense the Byzantine influence.

This might be the most beautiful church in Venice. That is saying a lot, but it is unique. The entire focus of the church is on one single painting, which accounts for the fact that there is little other art - but the marble walls are exceptional, and the nun's balcony is also of interest.

The marble exterior and interior was quite unlike any other church visited. A charge is made for entry but well worth the experience
