“Renovated Epoque style hotel with large and well performed rooms”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 December 2012

By looking for luxury accomodation for weekend amongst hundreds hotels in Venice you can easily choose this one without risk of being up set in the end. Nice reception joined with consierge desk - where you'll find well informed staff and kind support for transfers, excursions, restaurants recommendation and booking etc. Rooms really large and comfortable, beds and linen are excellent, bathrooms spacious enough and hot water pressure is more than strong. Top floors rooms as well as gym on the 4th level have breathtaking view on Campanille on San Marco and venetian roofs. It is one of highlights of the Palace. Another good word is worthy to say about La Terrazza restaurant. In November we can't appreciate it completely but it must be great pleasure to stay the evening romantic dinner on the gorgeous open terrace art-deco style. While Murano fountain in the center is a bit too much. Bottero's women in the lobby we like much better. Anyway, crowded for breakfast La Terrazza gives you full taste of venetian cousine and wine and moreover venetian ambience during the night.

This hotel was once a palace so the rooms are very small but the location and view - too die for. We looked out our window at a bridge over a canal with gondolas going all the time. Walked to St. Mark's in a matter of minutes. Hark Rock was a block away. Food is expensive in St. Mark's square so we walked the other way to Rialto to eat in minutes too. This hotel MADE our trip!

Room Tip: Rooms are small but SO worth the location. We walked to everything and were never afraid at night...

When entering the room, we could not find a safe to keep our passports and other documents.
The staff said that I could leave them in a safe at the counter but then I requested another room with a safe. The next day, they moved us to a bigger room (twice as big) with a safe. Service was superb. Breakfast was great.

The hotel has a great front desk team that are extremely helpful. Cannot say the same for the grumpy team at breakfast who walked around as if it was the day before 12.12.12. The breakfast room was stunning and breakfast as expected. Now for the rooms...... For what we paid it was not worth it at all. The ID contractor tried too hard to be cool however was totally impractical. The bath area was a disaster as you either bumped you arm when you showered and could not move if you had a bath. Walk in wardrobe was ok but not needed and could have provided more space in the room. As usual not enough power points for the modern traveller and trying to pay for Internet was a nightmare. Use the next hotels for free! So.... Only two highlights ...the reception staff and the breakfast room.... The rest was mediocre to say the least.

Booked a refundable night's stay at this hotel through a hotel booking site which required pre-paying. Was supposed to stay during an overnight cruise stop. Cruise line did not make port because Venice had flooded and was under about 4 feet of water. Called the hotel to see if I could cancel and they refused to refund it given the fact that it was the night before. The city is flooded, the room is refundable and the hotel refused to refund me...but did ask that I also go through the booking site to cancel to help them out. Namely so that they didn't have to pay the booking site any of the money. Needless to say I didn't see the need to help them out given that they were not willing to help me out. If this is the kind of service that they provide when the city is flooded I would hate to see what they would do at other times.

I've stayed at quite a few Venice hotels over the years. This was the best for the money, by a long shot. The room, while compact, was bright, very clean and freshly redecorated; the bathroom was large. The staff at the front desk were professional and more attuned to a business traveler, which was a bit strange because there were lots of tourists on package tours. It's very close to San Marco Square. You can't beat the location, if you want to be in the thick of it all. The only downside was the breakfast; there was a big spread in a huge dining area to cover this hotel and it's sister hotels. The breakfast wasn't as good as hotels elsewhere, but it was certainly ample. I would definitely return.

We stayed with friends for 3 nights in September and could not fault the location or the rooms. Once we got out bearings, it was easy to walk to all of the main attractions, St Marks being just 5 minutes away provided my wife did not stop too often to look in the many shops that clog the alleyways. The Accademia was a 20 minute stroll. Our room was large, fitted out to a high standard and had a view across the roof tops to the Basilica. A nice touch was the bottle of house prosecco delivered to our room free of charge, but let down by a charge for more ice! The only drawback to the room was the small, picturesque canal 4 floors beneath our window which was used by very noisy delivery boats from first light. We stayed on a B&B basis, which I would recommend, as eating out is very expensive, and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel bar and other facilities were a disappointment. Returning one evening after dinner in a nearby restaurant, we were told the bar would be closing at 11.00 but we could have room service. We did not want to stay up all night but thought it was odd to treat residents in this way. Overall a good place to stay but apart from breakfast you should eat and drink elsewhere. We had driven to Venice (which is easier than you would think) and the water taxi ride directly form the steps of the hotel to the car park at Tronchetto was a fantastic end to our visit.

Room Tip: If you do not want to be woken very early do not have a room overlooking the canal.
