“Good location, average hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

The hotel is situated 5 minutes from the train station. We were given a room on the 4th floor and there was no elevator (it is venice!). Room was clean but small (again, it is venice!). The breakfast was average. Overall, it seemed to be a functional hotel. Venice is a bit pricey city when it comes to accommodation. So, it is difficult to get good value for money. If you get a good deal, you can stay here. I paid 80 Euros/night.

Small, spotlessly clean, reasonable sized room. Breakfast adequate, staff helpful and friendly. No problem if out late. Good value, close to rail and bus station, but very quiet in the hotel. A short walk to vaporetto services and shopping areas. Bar/lounge would add to its score, it also needs better exterior signage.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 November 2013

My wife and I stayed in Alloggi Agli Artisti Hotel for 2 nights during the first week of November 2013. We made the booking through one of the Internet Hotel Booking Services and got an en suite double room on the ground floor (as per our request at the time of booking, but at the end of the corridor from the reception) for a price of $73 per night. This price also included a continental breakfast (consisting of breads, cereals, coffee and orange juice...no meats or egg). The room was quite clean and had a double bed, big enough for the 2 of us. In addition, the room also had a safe and a reasonably sized bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet. Although the room faced the road (Calle Priulli Cavelletti), the sound proofing was very good and we were not bothered by the noise in the street. There was also free WIFI available.
We used public transportation (the Airport shuttle service that cost us Euro 6 one way) to get to Piazzale Roma, which was the last stop on the route. From there, one had to cross the new glass bridge, the railway station and then turn left into the very first little alley (this is Calle Priulli Cavelletti where this hotel is located). The Hotel is located next door to Hotel Stella. This little street is also almost opposite the Ferrovia Vaporetto station (if you use the public transportation by water). The accessibility and location of the place cannot be beaten, especially if one wants to use the economical public transportation. However, all the action in the Island of Venice is near St. Mark's square which is a good 40 minutes of walk or a 7 Euro one way ticket by Vaporetto water bus.
Finally, a word about the receptionists...we were treated very pleasantly by each one of them and a special thanks to Mr. Lalit who was extremely helpful in providing us with tips in using the public water transportation and directions.

Room Tip: En-suite rooms in the ground floor if you do not want to carry the luggage upstairs, as there are no...

Two positives are the "coffee" at breakfast and the proximity to the train station. NOT worth the price for the night. Beds are old and you cannot get a good nights rest. The area is surprisingly quiet at night but the rooms are noisy. We were in the so called better building but it's not clean. Stay elsewhere.

Our room did not include a bathroom in the room, as originally booked. Instead, staff offered that two bathrooms in the hall with "Private Bathroom" signs were available to guests on the floor. At different times, though, either one was locked with no one in them! Neither day nor night staff took responsibility to try and correct the booking. One of the bathrooms was of decent size, but once the staff offered the other bathroom with a private key as our private bathroom, the larger one was subsequently locked! The one offered with the private key turned out to be no bigger than a small closet with no space for bath items or towels! It consisted of a shower stall and a toilet about three feet apart with a small sink in between.

Our room was located in a separate building from the front desk. There was no elevator and unfriendly staff reluctantly helped take our luggage down four flights of steps when we checked out the next morning to move to another hotel. The day clerk had originally advised us on our first day that he would correct the situation the next day, but the following morning apologized and said it was impossible to move us to another room with a bathroom inside and blamed his co-worker for the booking error. Staff showed little interest in making any effort to correct the situation.

Its only redeeming point was its location near both train and bus stations. Would definitely not go there again! And to top it off, it was way over-priced.

Room Tip: Insist that you have a bathroom inside the room you book if that's important to you.

I booked a twin en suite to share with my adult daughter and a separate single room with shared facilities for my son.
The pictures looked great, but what a let-down!
4th floor, no lift, in separate building using key, so door was often left open with poor security. Dirty and ugly staircase with musty smell.
My son's room was fine, with benefit of small en suite.. but the twin room was very shabby, all old decoration, tatty wardrobe with an old towel left on upper shelf, a bathroom with disgusting shower, with exposed pipes and wiring and which smelt damp.... hot water depended on time of day.... bed covers really old, you knew they hadn't been cleaned in ages....
so the bed was ok with clean sheets...at least could sleep.
The main reception and breakfast area are modern and most of staff very helpful, charging phones etc for us...
Very poor standard for 3 year old building.. perhaps if we'd been in main buildling, with modern rooms, or at least refurbished like my son's room, then I'd have been happy, but the value for money was not good.
Concerned about location down long, narrow quiet street - would not have wanted to be on my own late at night.
Close location to station, water taxi from airport (30 euros return), other water taxis et
Venice is quiet after 11pm and difficult to find anywhere open to have a drink and relax after evening out. We visited first weekend of Venice film festival, very hot.
If I went back to Venice, would get at least a 4 start hotel and do my research better....

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a modern room in the main building. They get booked up weekends.

Good hotel. No elevator. They upgrade us to a bigger room on the second floor. Originally we were suppose to be on the 5th floor in a smaller room. Venice is a very expensive city. Breakfast OK. Staff very friendly. Close to train station.
