This restaurant, hidden just off the dock in Venice, three bridges south of St. Mark's square, is a MUST experience. It will be hard to get in (it only has 16 seats and only 2 sittings at night: 7 and 9:15 pm), it is a fixed price menu (although that can be deceiving (see below)). Wine and liquor is extra. Andrea is the host, and what a show! Running commentary--although I doubt that his mother made all the dishes that now come out of the open kitchen. Part of the fun is the kitchen is open and you can watch the master chief and his assistant work the magic.
Amount out favorites: pasta al forno, a wonderful swordfish, beef cheeks, and lemon cake. But the menu is sure to change based on the fresh ingredients of the day. Be sure to book early, call the day ahead or the day of by 3 pm, and don't be late. You won't be disappointed.
Note bene: the wine is €4-6 depending on the pour and what is offered is a soft-medium-bold trio in either white or red. Same with the grappa. So pay attention, although you may think it unnecessary until the bill arrives. Overall--an outstanding experience. Not to be missed.
