We stumbled across this pleasant little wine bar very much by accident. The Rough Guide's recommendations on nearby Campo San Margherita turned out to be either noisy student hang outs or more restaurants than bars. Certainly nowhere that appealed to me. So we gave up, went for a wander and stumbled across El Sbarlefo. Very much a locals' place, it was packed with people enjoying an after work Campiri spritz (€2), glass of wine (€3 & up) and chicceria (i.e. small tapas like snacks, typically €2 or €3) from the extensive selection available from the bar. Most of the locals prefer to stand at the bar but there are a few seats at the back if you fancy a sit down. We enjoyed a nice glass of red and a selection of olives, sweet peppers, anchovy bruschetta and breaded cheese. Worth a visit. Budget on €10-15 per head.
