Lanterna di Marco Polo is a great B&B to stay at as it is central to St. Macro Square, Doges Place, Rialto Bridge and more as easy access to this B&B from the Rialto Vaporetto stop. Our stay was 4 nights from September 15 through to the 19th and I cannot say enough about this place and the owners.

The room was clean, beds were comfortable, but what really impressed us were the owners Guido & Riccardo who are gentlemen through and through, not only do they make you feel at home but they make you feel like you are family. They both are very helpful and knowledgeable and great with directions.

I have to say Grazie to both Guido & Riccardo who went out of their way to help us when my son needed medical attention by assisting to reach a doctor, took us to the doctor and then came to pick us up to return back to the B&B as their concern for my son’s health was true and heart felt. To both Guido & Riccardo Grazie, Grazie

I would recommend that you stay with Guido & Riccardo at “Lanterna di Marco Polo” as this is an "A" class establishment and I wish them both the best in future endeavors.

Ciao

Good hotel everything we felt we needed while staying in Venice. You spend all your days out and about (and if you don't plan to then you're missing out and you'll need a hotel that offers more to do). It was 1 minute from st Marc's square the centre of Venice absolutely incredible location.

We were thoroughly impressed with this little, owner-managed hotel! Guido and Riccardo were very friendly and always willing to assist in any way. The hotel is perfectly located, close to a water taxi stop on the main canal, a very short walking distance from Rialto bridge, and in the direction of San Marco Square. When we visit Venice again, we will definitely go back to this hotel!
I read prior to visiting that some guests found it difficult to find, and the directions may be confusing, especially if trying to follow them from the water taxi stop. My advice: Get to Rialto bridge, south side, facing south, turn right (so the canal would be on your right) and look out for Larga Mazzini road to the left. Turn into it and follow the hotel's directions from there. If you walk under a building you have gone too far - it's just before that on the right!

The hotel is very well located, near Rioalto Bridge and lots of shops around. The rooms where spacious and had everything including AC. The "dinning room" was really small but the included breakfast was ok. The staff war very helpful and friendly. The only thing that isn't good about the hotel is the view because in both sides all you will se is concrete walls.

Room Tip: There's no elevator and the stairs are very narrow so if you have heavy luggage you'r going...

IT is not everywhere that you can combine modern comforts and very tasteful unpretentious decor with the feeling that you are in an historic place, where you can lie on a pleasant bed and stare at the centuries-old beams and wooden ceiling, look out of the window and see ordinary buildings much as they have probably always looked, hear the sounds of people walking and talking in the narrow street much as you would have heard in another age. Here you can feel that you are in the heart of Venice. In Renaissance times the Merceria S Salvador was home to some of the most famous music publishers and instrument-makers, many of whom were German immigrants. One of the greatest renaissance buildings in Venice is the adjacent church of S Salvador. It is easy to arrive here: fast vaporetto from the station to Rialto, then 5 minutes' walk (with no bridge to drag your suitcase up and down!) You will be well looked-after. It is not cheap, but well worth paying to be able to enjoy Venice in style, close to its old stones. You can also eat well at the Antico Calice just round the corner in Calle Stagneri.

Room Tip: Rooms are all very nice, those at the rear are quieter.

Had great difficulty finding somewhere to stay in central Venice for a weekend with a friend. Eventually got suggested this guesthouse near San Marco and the Rialto. Although not cheap, it was a very good find. It's small and central and the owners, Riccardo and Guido are so helpful and friendly. They took us in person to a supermarket and to ferry stops, printed maps and gave excellent advice. The rooms (and beds) are small but fine and well decorated in a suitably Venetian style, and the en suite bathrooms, although small again worked fine. Breakfast was slightly underwhelming, but really all we needed was coffee to see us through to the next coffee and pastry or gelato. Definitely full of character and Venetian charm!
