We were looking for a restaurant serving authentic local Venetian cuisine for lunch, and we found it! The ambience was cozy, and there were many interesting and appetizing small dishes to try. Personally, I fancied the grilled squid the most. Many customers seemed to be locals, which add to my impression that this is a genuine local restaurant and not one of the many tourist traps. We were very satisfied with this lunch and can certainly recommend it!

We were in Venice and were looking for a nice not too expensive place to eat. We were attracted by A La Scuela because we saw a few old Venetians drinking a glass of wine and we saw that they were offering tasting of different cicchetti (meat or fish).
We ordered a mix meat cicchetti (12 €) that consisted of a tasting of a couple of slices of 4 different not particularly special hams and salami, served with some old bread (from the day before) and on a plate of salad (the owner said it would be enough for 2 people to eat, it wasn't), then, since my partner didn't want to eat fish, I ordered 3 different fish cicchetti (Octopus, squid and another fish) they were really really disgusting, it was like drinking polluted sea water, they really were horrible and after a couple of bites I could eat it anymore and I was feeling sick. My partner ordered a lasagna, it was clearly frozen and just heated up in the microwave, decorated with a drop of balsamic vinegar (with the lasagna?).
While we were eating the waitress was talking with other customers about other people that complained because a glass had red lipstick mark on it and she was saying that it's normal as the only way to clean it is by scrubbing the glass with a sponge when washing the dishes!
On this high point we decided to leave and to our surprise on the bill my 3 fish cicchetti were charged as a full tasting of 18 € + the lasagna was 9 € !! So total of 44.50 to (not) eat really disgusting food. Absolutely to avoid!
