“Great location & service!”
Reviewed 21 June 2011

We stayed at Ca' Angeli for 3 nights with my husband and three children. It was a nice, quaint, quiet hotel.

Right away we were impressed as we were checked-in. Our host gave us a brief orientation to Venice and gave us a great map. They helped arrange a tour of Murano, printed our boarding passes, and arranged transportation to the airport for us.

The breakfasts were delicious each morning including fruits, cereals, meats, cheeses, pastries, and assorted beverages. This definately filled up my hungry children!

We were so happy to find we had a lovely suite that would accomadate our entire family! Everyone had a room and we shared a bathroom. There was even a small sitting area we enjoyed!

As for the location, it was right on the Grand Canal (although we didn't have a view room). It was centrally located. We walked nearly everywhere and nothing took over 15 minutes (train station, St Marks Square, Rialto Bridge).

I would definately recommend this place to stay. It was great for our family but also would be great for a romantic trip!

Room Tip: Suite is great for families!

The money we paid to stay here is a bit more than we usually like spend on accommodation. We booked this accommodation because of such a good write up in the Lonely Planet Guide and were not disappointed. It is certainly worth the money. Very quiet and comfortable room (though a little small). The location was great, right in the heart of it all. An easy walk to everywhere, sights, restaurants shops etc. A little tricky to find. Our room had a huge terrace that we loved. The staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast and service was unbelievable. The breakfast room overlooks the Grand Canal. It was delightful to have breakfast and be able to look look out to the canal.

My partner and I stayed here during our recent week's stay in the gorgeous city of Venice. It is difficult to fault this hotel. The staff all went out of their way to assist us with advice on the city and easiest way to get from A to B. Our room looked over one of the side canals so the occasional sound of Gondoliers calling out provided the perfect soundtrack. The breakfast room / reading room overlooks the Grand Canal and we made the most of the window seat area to watch the coming and goings of Venetian life go by. The ONLY suggestion would be providing more coffee at breakfast in the morning, but aside from that it was the perfect fit :)

My husband and I traveled to Italy for our 10th anniversary. After staying in Lake Como for 4 days we came to Venice for 2 nights. We chose this hotel based on the good reviews. It was a beautiful hotel, very nice room and gorgeous views from the breakfast area. We took the advice of other reviewers and didn't bother paying extra for a room with a view and just enjoyed the view at breakfast. It would have been difficult to find without directions but the directions led us right there - however once there we didn't see the gate with the small Ca Angeli sign on it that we had to go in - we figured it out thanks to some other guests staying there. The room wasn't exactly sound proof and we could hear the guests above us (?) pretty well but I wouldn't let that stop you from staying here. The breakfast was basic but nice. It was a short boat ride to St. Marks square - or walk if you go across Rialto bridge. Very clean nice rooms and bathroom. Beautiful but not stuffy at all. Venice was very cool and a lot of fun to see but I think it is a been there done that kind of place - we slightly preferred Lake Como and would love to go back there again and again!

Room Tip: Get a regular room rather than one with a view

We came across this hotel on Trip Advisor and were so very pleased with it. It is right on the Grand Canal and located in the center of everything. Although a little hard to find if it is your first time in Venice, someone is sure to help you locate it. We found another person staying there that took us right to the door. (thank you so much). The rooms are small as I understand most are in this wonderful city, but we rented the room with a terrace and the gatherings were in our new home. You are welcomed very warmly by the staff and they bend over backwards to do anything for you. The rooms (4) were nice and cosy and lacking nothing. They serve a continental breakfast in the morning with fresh orange juice, coffees, different pastries, jams, breads and meats, cereal and yogurts. The rate is a little high, but you get what you pay for. We would definately stay here again.

This hotel was a highlight of our trip to Venice. It is situated overlooking the Grand Canal, and with the help of instructions accompanying our booking, we managed to find our way fairly easily, although I can imagine it might be trickier by night. The doorbell at the garden gate is surrounded by lights, so look out for it on your right. The hotel itself is very pleasant, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The owner, Giorgio, is very chatty and recommended several restaurants to us. We stayed in the suite upstairs which could accommodate more people, but we were there by ourselves. The room was clean and tidy, as was the bathroom. Due to the pitched bathroom ceiling, there was not room for a stand up shower unit, and if you are taller than 6 feet or 1.8m, you might find it a bit of a squeeze. The room was quiet and we slept like logs. All this alone would have guaranteed our satisfaction, but this hotel's secret weapon is the breakfast room, which overlooks the Grand Canal, and is decorated perfectly with some period furniture. The breakfast was exceptional - fresh orange juice, coffee to order, fresh pastries and rolls, cold cuts, some kind of savory preserve which I wish I'd taken the name of etc. While stuffing your face you can observe the gondoliers on the canal and wonder why you thought about staying anywhere else. My only criticism is lack of free WiFi - you have to pay for it, which is just pointless, and that's why I am docking one star on value. I casually mentioned that I was leaving early in the morning and the hotel had arranged a takeaway breakfast for me, which tells you everything you need to know. Top marks!

We stayed here during our family holiday to Italy in March. We spent 3 nights in Venice and couldn't have asked for a better spot. The location is wonderful, very central and right on the Grand Canal. It was a treat to have our breakfast over looking the busy canal.

Our room was perfect. We had a whole suite to ourselves; 3 comfortable bedrooms, a sitting area and bathroom. The staff was always extremely helpful with suggestions for meals and directions as needed. They even sent us off to the train with a couple of boxes of biscotti. A welcome treat for traveling with 3 kids.
