“Lovely B&B”
Reviewed 27 April 2012

My family recently stayed here for two nights. The Hotel is located in a lovely part of Venice off the beaten track. The staff were very welcoming and informative. We had a family room which was located in a loft. The area was clean and quite spacious (there was five of us). The only drawback was one bathroom with no shower. The Breakfast was fresh and plentiful. We had an early departure in the morning and they had organised three bags full of food that we could take with us. They recommended great restaurants that were not expensive and touristy I would definitely recommend this B&B it was lovely.

After reading reviews we were disappointed with our stay at this B&B and room 6 in particular. The bathroom was cramped and had black mould in the shower cubicle. The bed cover on the third bed was badly stained and was very unappealing. The management apologised and removed it, saying that the third bed wasn't used very often. There was no Tea/Coffee making facilities during the day even in a communal area. The official website shows quality rooms and bathrooms but room 6 is not one of them. However the building itself was beautiful with antique furniture and views over the canal from the breakfast room. The breakfast was also good with nice selection. The location is good near Rialto bridge and San Polo square.

Room Tip: When booking make sure you not in room 6

We stayed here in March of 2012 for 4 nights.

The staff:
Excellent. Very welcoming and informative whenever we needed advice or directions. Of note was our departure - it was early (before breakfast) and they worked with us to arrange our transportation, then surprised us with a picnic to take with us in the morning.

The breakfast:
Also excellent. Pastries, cerals, fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cappucino and espresso... all that along with a great view of the grand canal.

The location:
Right on the grand canal, 5 minutes walk from the Rialto bridge. Only downside is that the vaporetto (water bus) doesn't stop right outside the hotel. That means a short walk through Venice's twisting alleys with your bags. Not a big deal, but we did get turned around once before we found it.

The hotel:
Clean and well appointed. Lobby is upstairs from the entry but there's a small lift. We only had two issues:
1) the wifi did not work in our room. If that's important to you make sure you specify in advance. We just went into the lounge to do our daily research.
2) as several people have noted, the bed was extremely hard. We thought "complainers!" when we read these, but really... be prepared.

Overall we really liked the Ca' Angeli. It was just a bit quirky, the breakfast was an excellent start to each day, and the location simply can't be beat.

Room Tip: Ask in advance for a wifi accessible room.

Our recent stay was really lovely and the location and style of the building was so suited to a stay in Venice. The hotel is located within an easy and interesting walk of the Rialto Bridge. We had no difficulty finding the place, although I must admit to reviewing the youtube video titled "Walk Ca' Angeli" as recommended by another TripAdvisor member. The trick is just to find the main shopping street that parallels the canal and turn left at the delicious bake shop. Several streets will get you to the spot, so if things don't quite seem to match the map provided by the B&B, just keep heading in the direction indicated on the map and you'll be good. We had two rooms, both very different in terms of amenities although priced the same. Room 6 has twin beds and overlooks rooftops. It has a small bathroom with shower only, and is a bit of a tight squeeze. It requires that you are able to climb a flight of stairs, so when booking ensure you advise whether or not your are able to do so. Room 22 is on the main level of the B&B (which is on the building's 3rd floor, and accessible by a lift/elevator), It is in a quiet location and overlooks the main courtyard of the building. Very pretty with large windows, a very large double bed, a single and and a chair that can be made into a single bed. The bathroom contains both a shower stall and a separate tub as well as two sinks. Very lovely. None of the rooms in the B&B overlook the canal, but the breakfast room offers lovely views. Breakfast is very fresh and quite delicious, with a variety of continental offerings including boiled eggs, cold cuts, cheeses, croissants, rolls, bread, biscuits/cookies, fresh fruit blood oranges to squeeze for fresh juice, cereals, yogurt, etc. Coffee and tea are prepared, but you can ask for an espresso or cappucino freshly made too. The service at the hotel is very good and quite accommodating. Unlike most B&Bs, someone is available at the front desk at all times. When they learned we were leaving early in the morning, a breakfast bag had been prepared for us to take, along with a box of biscuits...a lovely and thoughful gesture. The property is clean and well presented throughout, offering very good value when compared to other hotel offerings. I had some confusion as to how payment would work as a discounted rate was offered on one room if paid in advance, while the other was offered a lesser discounted rate if paid in cash upon arrival (not sure why they only offered the one for prepayment), but the staff were very patient in answering my frequent e-mail questions. I would recomment to anyone looking to stay in a place that feels Venetian without breaking the bank, and who has a sense of direction and can follow a map in order to find the B&B.

This is a wonderful low-key choice for mature adults (would not recommend for boisterous kiddies) who would like the feel of "old world Venice" around them. Formerly an apartment of an architecture professor, these rooms are full of the solid, interesting furniture of another era ... yet the bathrooms are completely modern (mine had a whirlpool bath). It is located on the third floor of a palazzo (there is an elevator) and the breakfast room over looks the Grand Canal in two directions. I booked the double room overlooking the canal and was best pleased. The young people who run this establishment are the kindest innkeepers I have encountered in decades of travel. I've been going to Venice every year for over thirty years and have finally found "my" spot. The breakfast is the best I have had anywhere; there is someone in attendance 24/7, and although it is a bit hard to find ... it is worth the adventure. Well located, quite near the Rialto, but out of the crowds.

I have nothing negative to say about this gem, unless you want to complain that the Grand Canal can be noisy. That, to me, is the fun of it. Always something going on, always enjoyable to see the play of light on the water.

Room Tip: Don't be discouraged by its hidden location. Just follow the directions from San Polo, and you...

We have just returned from a 3 night stay a Ca angeli in Venice and it was fantastic !

Finding the hotel was a little tricky , the instructions that are given aren't the best but there is a video on youtube called walk Ca Angeli and if you have a map handy you will soon find it.
The hotel is tucked away down a little alley which is generally very quiet especially at night.
The best way to get to it is by private water taxi which will drop you right at a pier next to the hotel but at 110 euros a journey from Marco Polo its not a cheap option. (But it is great fun !). Otherwise use the Alilaguna boat , 15 euros each that will drop you at the Rialto stop then its a 5-10 minute walk over the bridge to the hotel. (Not the best option if you have heavy bags or if you are elderly).
Once at the hotel you will find the reception on the 3rd floor which is served by a small elevator.
Check in was quick and easy with a lovely friendly welcome.
The rooms are a good size with a well equipped and spacious bathroom. Both are immaculately clean. One thing that we liked was the large walk in wardrobe.
The beds are large but I didnt find them particularly comfy (personal taste). One thing that the room and hotel is missing is an iron , you simply cannot get one. Not sure if this is to with fire regulations but surely they must be able to supply something even if its a trouser press ?
Our only other slight gripe with the room was the water. It can be somewhat temperamental , sometimes running hot then goes cold then back to hot again , we just got used to it in the end.
There is only one room with a view of the canal which is the suite but the breakfast room makes up for this. Its a beautiful litte place and if you get the one window table on a sunny morning it makes breakfast a real highlight of the trip. Breakfast itself is a good quality continental selection of cereal , cheese , meats , eggs etc with plenty of coffee and fresh juices.
To get to places of interest ..... The Rialto bridge is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. St marks is over the Rialto and then a 10-15 minute walk. The bus and train stations are a 20 - 25 minute walk. They are all accessible via the Actv water bus which is a cheaper way of seeing the grand canal rather than the water taxi.
There are good restautarants nearby. The tourist hang outs next to the rialto along the canal are absolutely fine to eat at but try the Trattoria a La madonna for an authentic Venician meal , its only a 5 min walk away and the hotel will give you directions.

So in summary for the price that you will pay to stay here you can't go wrong. Great location , value for money , friendly and helpful staff with a fantastic breakfast included.
I can highly recommend Ca Angeli and would happily stay there again.

If Venice is in your bucket list like I mine, we were so lucky to get a room at Ca' Angeli. I had a list of must-haves in this vacation and they were all met: A place with history and character.. centuries -old building but with modern amenities. Good location among local life (church, bakery, convenience store, restaurants, shops...) but tucked in a quiet street. It was a few minutes walk to the Rialto and passing the quaint shops was what was really slowing me down. We had an enchanting view of the Grand Canal while taking our lovely, sumptuous breakfast! They had their own dock where to lazily sit and shout "Ciao" as the locals did to passers-by .The room was cozy and clean with a Murano chandelier, the bathroom elegantly fitted and generously spaced. Our hosts were just ever so helpful. We even had cookies-to-go when we checked out. I think it was really good value for the service and the quality of the bed and breakfast. Wi-fi that time was a bit tentative but that wasn't our priority in the vacation. Five bright stars!
