Palazzo Rosa could not be bettered location-wise. It is incredibly well placed to get to all the major sites very easily. It is also worth noting that there is only one bridge/one set of stairs between the vaporetto stop and the hotel- very useful if laden with suitcases and children!
The room we stayed in was very nice- they have kept asll the old features and I've never stayed in such a grand room with an elaborately painted ceiling. The room was large enough for my four year old to sleep undisturbed at one end while we read at the other- and we looked out over the canal.
The staff were delightful and helpful and the breakfast perfectly adequate- my only complaint was the quality of the coffee- I somehow felt in Italy the coffee should be the highlight! But that is a very tiny negative compared to all the very positive points in this hotel.
My sister is planning to go to Venice in the summer and I have had no hesitation in recommending this as a lovely place to stay.

My boyfriend and I visited about 10 cities on our trip across Europe last summer, and this place was one of the most expensive, and by far the sketchiest. We knew Venice was typically a more expensive city vs. the other cities we visited, but we were really disappointed with our accommodations at Palazzo Rosa. The room itself looked pretty shabby, and we were a little worried about the pieces of paper covering the gaping holes in the ceiling. The real shock was when ceiling would leak every morning around 8:00AM from the people staying above us using their water. The leak wasn't just a couple drops - imaging turning on the tap in your kitchen sink - that sort of flow. When we went to the office to complain, the guy shrugged his shoulders and told us "that's Venice!". There weren't any other rooms available, and we weren't able to cancel our subsequent nights there. It was also a total nightmare to find the place, and a serious hike from where the ferry drops you off from the airport.

We were happy to return to this lovely hotel in a great location 5 minutes walk from Rialto bridge. Very competitive prices, friendly owners and staff, great spacious room for the five of us (2 adults and 3 small children) and lovely and warm compared to the unusually freezing weather we found out and about this weekend - around -9°C! Palazzo Rosa was the perfect refuge from the cold though, with comfy beds on a typically uneven Venice floor (just adds to the charm... :) ) and a nice simple breakfast with croissants and crusty bread, plenty of coffee and hot chocolate for the kids. We'll surely return in the future....

We found Palazzo Rosa ideally located, right in the middle of everything you want to see and visit in Venice. Large room, large comfortable bed, new bathroom, large and fresh warm towels every day, friendly and helpful hosts. What more can you need?
After 4 days of simple continental breakfast we were glad to change to a more versatile breakfast at home, but that was to be expected. Also the entry is not quite what you envisage with a Palazzo. But all in all a nice stay and a good product for a fair price.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with canal view

Went with a few friends to Venice for a weekend break just to check out the city. We were travelling on a budget and came across the Palazzo Rosa. Definitely couldn't argue with the price being in such a prime location within the city.

From the outside, this place looks rather rustic and daunting but only when you go inside do you discover it to be a little gem. Everything is in great condition and even more importantly for January, the hotel was lovely and warm. Cleaners came round everyday and our room was in excellent condition. Even breakfast was great, for 5 euros you can't argue with toast, croissants and coffee.

All in all excellent value, very friendly and welcoming staff. Nothing bad to say about the place!

Room Tip: We were placed in the main section of the hotel rather than in a separate part of a different buildi...

My friend found Palazzo Rosa on the internet and booked it as it had a room for 3 of us for a girly weekend in Venice! We struggled to find it a bit, the instructions given by the hotel are spot on, but the actual door to the hotel is not very obvious - it just looks like a private house and the sign is very small. Nevertheless we managed to find a very nice chap in a bar wh phoned the hotel for us for directions! The hotel is on the first floor in a very old building and the entrance hall to the building (not the hotel) could be described as 'faded grandeur'. However the hotel itself is very comfortable - staff extremely obliging and helpful. My friend had not checked in online for the return flight, and the manager let her check in and print off the boarding pass in reception, with no charge.
The room was nice and the bed very comfortable, The TV did not seem to work - may just have needed plugging in - but we didn't ask, because who needs TV when you are in Venice! Continental breakfast was nice. Bathroom was very clean with fresh towels every day, and the room was very quiet at night. Free wifi was a bonus!
The hotel is really convenient - 10 minutes walk from the water shuttle from the airport, and another 10 minutes walk to Rialto. Good English spoken. Lots of nice restaurants and bars just outside. Loved it - would happily return.

Room Tip: Check whether you are staying in the apartment or the hotel itself
