You can spend a lifetime looking for a place like this in a tourist trap like Venice. The service is casual and friendly, not pushy like in some of the other restaurants around the city. There is a vegan/vegetarian-friendly menu, tasty pastas and risottos, cheap draught beer, delicious hot chocolate and a scrumptious pear pie! The sandwiches and bruschetta looked amazing as well. To top it all, they play Blues tunes and seem happy for you to tuck yourself in a corner for the afternoon and soak up the atmosphere. The place is a stone's throw from the main station, so perfect if you arrive early for your train or want to plan your next move on arrival.

This is a nice small restaurant with friendly staff (who speak English). We had lunch here and they serve good pasta at a great price.
The fact they offer free WiFi is a plus, so is the location, close to the bus station, but far enough to not be too crowded.

We came across the small restaurant, Colpo de Mato while wandering around the alleyways of Venice. What a wonderful discovery! The chef prepares delicious traditional Italian food and the waiter is more pleasant than any we found on our travels. The red and white house wine are delicious and the bruschetta with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and thin sliced ham is to die for! It's worth wandering around to find it. If you can find the Calle de La Laca, look for it! It's worth the search! The prices are VERY reasonable and the ambiance is so italian. My husband and I both loved it.

The staff were very accommodating to our needs the two nights that we ate in this restaurant. We had a variety of food with drinks and desert. The first night we arrived the person serving the food told us that everything was no problem that the chef could arrange our different menus. We had two vegetarians and one vegan in our group of eight. I have to say the deserts were of very high standard. The apple tart was made with an orange flavored taste. The tiramisu was so light and did not give a feeling of heaviness. There were other people in the restaurant from Rome and they said they would always come there to eat.I would like to thank the Father and Son team who gave a hundred per cent to accommodate our taste buds. Not alone did we get what we ordered but we served a taste of small pieces of cod done in a delicious sauce. I came with a large group of student artists from Ireland so when we got back to restaurant we told the rest of the group.
