this trip was looked forward to for months, and i'm pleased to say we were not dissapointed. the location and the accommodation were excellent. so much so that we are to return next year. my best piece of advice to anyone visiting this beautiful city is to "get lost" dont get bogged down with directions and just enjoy the city. check out jazz club novencento over the rialto bridge, great vibes and pizza. if you have the time go to one of the many classical concerts which are a delight. the rooms at eleonora's set the tone for staying in venice and the breakfasts were just right to set you off in the morning. if you are stuck for local information just ask eleonora who is glad to help.

thanks eleonora. look forward to seeing you next year.

My wife and I stayed a week and enjoyed it immensely. Al Teatro was spotlessly clean and our room was spacious, light and airy, with lovely views of the canal. Although only a few minutes' walk from St Mark's, this B & B is situated in a quiet corner of Venice overlooking La Fenice opera house and we had no difficulty at all in finding it with the excellent directions that Eleonora sent us. Breakfast was excellent, with a choice of hot drinks, croissants, bread rolls, cold meats, cakes, fruit and juices, all served in a dining room which has a ceiling fresco. Above all, Eleonora and Fabio, her husband, are ideal hosts, and they made us feel welcome and comfortable, and they were always eager to advise about restaurants, museums, sights etc. We knew as soon as we stepped into Al Teatro that we would be happy there, and so it proved. We intend to go back there and we will recommend it to any of our friends who intend to visit Venice.

My wife and I stayed here on the first leg of our 2 week tour of Italy. We decided on Alteatro based on all the reviews on this site.

I promised Elenora that I would write about my experience as soon as I could, so here goes. There are many good reasons to stay at the Alteatro - the location, the size of the room, reasonable room rates ...

But for my wife and me, the most important reason is Elenora. From the endless cups of capucchino to advice about what to see, Elenora was ever obliging (including on one occasion, setting up a breakfast at 6.30 am on the day that we had decided to visit Verona).

Venice is full of excellent hotels that provide excellent service, but for my money if I were to ever return to Venice, I would return to Elenora's.Thank you for everything Elenora.

Highly recommended.

The pink room has two large beds pushed together to create as much space as two people are ever likely to need, and the room itself is spacious. The adjoining en suite facilities were spotless, and in general we were most impressed. Eleonora Agostini, apart from producing very good breakfasts, was there if we wanted to consult her about matters to do with Venice, but she was not intrusive. She was the perfect hostess. Al Teatro is ideally placed for anyone, such as ourselves, who wished to see the most famous sites in a short space of time. And the opera house is just over the canal. Highly recommended. We will return.

We stayed with Elenora and family. Her knowledge of Venice and advice was excellent we sampled some outer island life in Venice and went to Murano, Burano on a 3 day pass. Elenora is really helpful with tips of places, restaurants and sites to visit. The accomodation was primo condition and facilities to access free internet. Our italian was basic so we were able to get by on a few words. She made us feel very welcomed and her kids also were of no bother. Be prepared although to share space with her family as the dining area and internet access is all included. Enjoy the sites, sounds, food and hospitality of Elenora and family. Their are 3 rooms which are BnB we had a private shower and bathroom, pretty sure the other 2 rooms shared with the family. Outside our window at night time was the sound of singing ventians and gondolas. We definately will be heading back to her BnB in summer time. Arrivederci, ka kite ano

We are on over-60 couple who stayed two nights in a queen bedroom with bath and balcony overlooking a canal. Good location. Helpful hosts who speak English. Historic building and neighborhood. Not luxury but comfortable & clean. Modern amenities. Heavy shutters on windows to block noise. Great breakfast. Easy walk to boat transportation and to San Marco. Cash only. 118 Euros per night.

Would stay there again.

We stayed here for one night in january 2006. You are living with a family, however all of the rooms are private. They are large and clean. The bathroom is clean and large and a hair dryer is provided. The breakfast was great, coffee or cappochino, cereals, fruit, breads. We sat for breakfast with a couple from England and had a great conversation. The ceiling in the dining area is incredible and the floors are beautiful. The owners, Fabio and his wife are very friendly. I would recommend this place if you want a charming room with agreat price. You will receive a room key as well as a key for the home.
