Very close to the square and the main bridge. Room was large and clean. The bathroom could do with a deep clean and the breakfast can also be improved... Overall perfect place for a short stay at a very reasonable price!
- Free Wifi
- Breakfast included
Upon checkout we were asked if we could pay our bill in cash. We paid $500 in cash and the balance on another card. However when we got back to the US our initial credit card used to make reservation was charged full amount and not credited back. Thought we were being helpful and were being swindled! Have talked to management with no success and am turning it over to my bank and booking.com
BE WARNED- BEWARE
Someone on their staff obviously will try to rip you off!!
If you're simply looking for a bed for the night, this place will do. But the rooms were tired, fixtures and fittings in a poor state, and the bathroom terrible (no hot water, shower door not big enough to stop the water escaping, and it fell off anyway). There were clothes left in the wardrobe from a previous guest, suggesting that the rooms are not cleaned or checked very thoroughly. And towels were missing when we arrived - we had to ask for them.
Rather than adding to the charm of Venice, this detracted from it somewhat.
I was here on business but also brought my partner, and we were pretty disappointed. My employer only booked this place because Hotel Flora was full up. I will advise them to find somewhere else in future.
A really good hotel, good price, nice rooms, nice bathrooms, good breakfast, the owner seemed like a nice guy, he even gave us a small discount and asked for a review on TripAdvisor, so, here it is.
When i come back to Venice, i will stay here for sure.
i looked at the reviews for this hotel after i booked it with venere i thought i had made a mistake as this was a birthday present for my partner. However i was very happy with all aspects of the hotel. The bathroom could be doing with a facelift but the rooms where very clean and spacious. I had booked a room with a balcony and got just exactly that it was a perfect location having stayed at other locations within venice. I found the staff helpful and although we didnt have to complain about anything im sure they would of dealt with it appropriately. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
We spent 5 nights at Al Gazzettino. Room was large, updated, very clean with comfortable mattress and pillows. Breakfast included. Hotel can be hard to find if you don't have a map and directions, but central location is perfect for seeing all the sights, great for first-time visitors to Venice. Very close to Rialto bridge, so if you stop there, you should be able to get directions from a local.
Apparently under new management--we found them to be very friendly, helpful, and the service was great. We did not have any service issues as previously reported on Trip Advisor.
Weak points: 1. AC was marginal during the day, but kept us cool enough at night to require a thin blanket. 2. Bathroom was tiny, and we are big Americans, so it was a tight squeeze--especially the shower--but manageable. 3. No elevator. If you are looking for central location to walk to all the sights, great price, and not planning to spend a lot of time in your room, Al Gazzettino is a great bargain.
