Owner description: Located near the landmark and arched Rialto Bridge (which you’ll see pictured in countless photos of Venice), this busy daily market stands in the commercial center of the city alongside the city’s famed Grand Canal. Venetian locals and international tourists alike frequent this centuries-old market for fruit, fish, and vegetables.

If you cross the Rialto Bridge from San Marco and carry on into San Polo and San Croce, hang a right and within moments you'll be in a market with open stalls and a covered fish market. These are always good to experience but the notable difference here is the location: right alongside the Grand Canal with all the colour and vibrant movement you'd expect. At the end of the day this is 'just' a market, but being provisioned from the canal is the telling difference. Worth a diversion then rather than a dedicated journey. (Guide books say it closes down as lunchtime finishes so a morning visit would be best)

The best place to feel the life and living of Venetian. The colour and smell there ignite your sense. No matter you cook or not, it is the place to explore for inspiration. You never know if you will fall into Italian cuisine after the visit.

Very tourist oriented and crowded. If you pass through, enjoy it for a few minutes and move on. Save your time for other places.

Food glorious food. We stumbled upon this market by change. Oh, what a wonderful surprise. The quality of the goods on sale and the variety blows my mind. If I lived in Venice I would either be at the market or in the kitchen...cooking up a storm. I would recommend a visit to this market, even if you are not a foodie...
