I stayed at the hotel with my husband in July 2011. We both travel weekly for business, so it is a bit difficult to write a review and consider only Venetian standards... It is like giving a grade to hotel at Key West, what things you are willing to accept just because of the location.

Our room was located in the Annex. Spacious, extremely clean room, with nice decor. We have stayed at Venice before, and the room was bigger than we expected. But without a door sill, which means that noise insulation is a little bit questionable. This was not a problem for us - thanks to an elderly couple who stayed at the next room, but it could have been otherwise...

The view was just a brick wall, so there was no point to open the curtains. Another, minor thing was that there was no place to put shampoo/shower gel bottles in the shower except the floor, but that is easy to fix.

Other reviewers have appraised the breakfast, and although I have travelled in Italy many times, and I am familiar with the standard ... I really, really would prefer having something a little bit healthier than sweet croissant / pastry. I know, it is a cultural thing, coming from up north we start the day with porridge and rye bread with ham or cheese. On the other hand, I love real cappuccino!

So shortly: it is a nice truly Venetian style hotel at not-so-crowded area with friendly staff, with small details you may or may not like.

My partner and I had a long weekend in Venice in June. This hotel was rated number one on TA and although It ISN'T the most expensive hotel in Venice, the location and the building it is housed in are quite breathtaking. The hotel and the annexe are 15/16th century...the hotel is a former 'Palazzo' and as such has this wonderful sense of history infused into every nook and cranny.
The bedroom was characterful and furnished in typical 'Venetian' style without being too twee. The breakfasts are delicious and are served in an intimate open air quadrangle [when the weather allows]
I asked the owner for a comfortable bed as a couple of the reviewers had stated that the beds were hard. I have to say the bed was perfect!
Full marks to the 'Moncenigo'...it is a unique and special hotel that deserves to thrive.

Room Tip: A couple of reviewers had mentioned about the beds being hard. I emailed a request for a comfy bed...

We stayed her in early July and had the most amazing time- unbelievable that it only has a 2 star rating! We opted to stay in the annex which was like an small apartment with small room with a chaise lounge that leads into the main bedroom and a good-sized bathroom. The room is beautifully decorated and has a well-stocked mini-bar and flat screen television. The room was on the top floor and did have a set of steep(ish) stairs leading up to it. The air-con was excellent and much needed in the July heat. The breakfast provided was good (especially the danish pastry) and included cereals, sweet cakes and fruit but could be improved with a selection of cold meats. All the staff were friendly and approachable.

Location: At the bottom of the street was the Stan Stae vaporetto stop which is part of vaporretto Route 1. On the street is a Gelto (Ice Cream) shop- the best we went to for taste and price, a bakery, a small shop selling food/drinks, a cafe and an authentic restaurant ran by locals (We went to the restaurant for lunch one day, the food was tasty and a reasonable price for Venice). The Rialto Bridge is a 10 min walk away and 20 min walk from San Marco (St Mark's) Square (Head down the street opposite the Gelto shop and there are directions on walls of buildings to help you get there- if you get lost follow others who look like they know where they are going!)

If we ever get round to coming back to Venice, we'll definitely stay here again.

This was my second visit, although my friends had not been before. All were very impressed. Like the location, a less obvious part of Venice, very convenient for vaporetto, restaurants etc. Good size rooms, lovely little courtyard, really friendly and helpful service. The rave reviews are well deserved.

Room Tip: Room 5 in the main hotel had a nice little balcony over the small canal.

I cannot say enough about this hotel, it was perfect, period. Sandro was an excellent host who took time out of his day to talk to me in length about the doors/windows in the hotel (take a look , what craftsmanship). My family was lucky enough to be the first guests in the new annex ... incredible! Take heart in the reviews you see before you and book a room, you WILL NOT be disappointed.

This is a beautiful hotel. We stayed in the Annex, a 1 minute walk to the main hotel for check in/breakfast/etc. No inconvenience at all. Charming, clean rooms with fabulous bathrooms. The staff makes this the only hotel I would choose in Venice. A few notes: the beds are hard! So, remember to ask them for a pillow topper to make it softer. No trouble to get one and then the bed is good. The San Stae vaporetto stop is a minute from the hotel, so you can easily move to St. Mark's Square that way. You can buy a 48 hour ticket that will end up being the best deal for you! If you don't want to do this, you will have an enjoyable walk to St. Mark's Square, over the Rialto Bridge. It is enough of a walk that when exhausted at the end of a particularly long day we weren't willing to walk back to St. Mark's for our favorite restaurant - and chose to eat closer to the hotel. Don't let this stop you from staying!! Just ride the vaporetto if you don't like to walk more than 10 minutes. Breakfast was consistently good - yummy lemon muffins were our favorite. Our 9 year old was able to find food she could enjoy. We stayed in a triple that had a queen bed and an adorable twin bed that my daughter loved. She felt very special. Stay here!! :-) Thank you Al Ponte Mocenigo!

We chose this hotel given the great reviews we saw on Trip Advisor and it exceeded our expectations. Incredible location, stunning rooms and bathrooms, delicious breakfast in a beautiful courtyard and the most helpful and friendly hosts. Don't miss this hotel--it really was one of the highlights of our wonderful trip to Venice.
