Certificate of Excellence

The hotel is very good, and one I would definitely think about staying in again when I visit venice next time. The service is great, very friendly and welcoming and very helpful. The location is excellent, just a hundred metres from a vaporetto stop and within easy walking distance from the main square. There are also a lot of nice restaurants nearby, and the area is very pretty, with more small canals than around near San Marco. We stayed in one of the cheaper rooms, which is around on par with other hotels in the area, but the room was very small. The breakfast was very good, with nice croissants, and lots of good coffee, but was a little too sweet, giving a bit of a sugar high early in the morning! A few more savoury things would be good. Wifi is also good, and available throughout.

I would probably advise paying a little more and staying in one of the better rooms, as they looked a lot nicer.

We booked this hotel in Venice after carefully looking through the reviews online on TripAdvisor and other websites. The majority of the reviews for this hotel were excellent and I started to correspond with the managers (specifically Walter) beforehand with innumerous questions. He had the patience of a saint and I knew before we even got there that this hotel was the right choice for us. As this was our first time to visit Venice (which is one of the most beautiful cities that we have visited and we have travelled to a lot of European cities) this hotel was an important choice. We knew as soon as we walked across the little bride into the garden area of the hotel that this was an excellent choice. We spent 3 nights and 4 days here and wish it could have been longer. The hotel itself is quite beautiful and very pleasing to the eye. All the rooms are different. Ours was quite large and spacious. We were in the main building and it was very convenient to be there as it precluded having to walk to far from another building for breakfast.
The breakfast was included in the price and it was very nicely presented each morning. The baked goods were just that, freshly baked and delicious. Particularly nice were apricot croissants. My mouth is watering just thinking about them. One of the nicest things about breakfast (which is served between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.) beside the food was the employees who helped make it memorable. Our server was Betty for most of the time and she was an absolute delight to meet and talk with. She also was very attentive. We were very upset that on our last day she was not working because we didn't get to say goodbye to her. She was a very nice lady.
The location of this hotel is excellent. It is basically on the 3rd stop on the grand canal at San Stae that leaves from Ferrovia (which is right near the S.Lucia Train Station). When we arrived we decided to walk from the Train Station to Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo to see Venice on foot (even with out luggage). We were surprised at how well we navigated the streets and only had one misstep in finding the hotel
Our entire stay was magical in Venice and in no small part to how lovely this hotel was.
Now for the BEST PART - Walter. He was our main "touchstone" during our stay and we asked him a lot of questions and had some really nice discussions with him. He was patient, knowledgeable and very personable. He never seemed to loose his cool and it was evident he enjoyed his job. We got to meet the other "co-partner" Saundro on our last day in Venice.
I cannot begin to tell anyone who is coming to Venice how really lovely this hotel is. It deserves (in our opinion) to be rated 5 stars. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to stay here and visit Venice....an experience we will always remember fondly.

Ciao'
Paul and Ed

What a nice little hotel; spacious, well furnished and very comfortable bedroom, with very good bathroom; very welcoming staff, excellent breakfast.

The Al Ponte Mocenigo is only 100 yards from the San Stae landing stage where vaporettos stop, and also the Alilaguna transfer boat to Marco Polo airport - very convenient.

Off the main tourist thoroughfares but only 10 minutes amble from the Rialto Bridge - when you do not get lost.

Quiet, comfortable, welcoming and convenient - ideal.

Room Tip: We were in the recently refurbished annexe, about 20 yards from the main hotel, over its own bridge...

The hotel is simply amazing. Everything is perfect in it. Friendly service with an English speaking staff, which is not that easy to find in Italy. Location is superb - just above the side of a canal. We got a room with a view to canal and small balcony. It's like to find yourself in a movie :).
Unfortunately we had a delay in Frankfurt airport due to a strike, but when we called the hotel, they were so kind to keep a room for us for the next day. The room itself was spacious and impeccably clean. They have a nice breakfast.
I will be definitely coming back to them when traveling again to Venice.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view to canal

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a spontaneous trip to Venice...booked the flights and hotel on the Saturday and were there by Tuesday lunchtime! I used the old tried and tested trip advisor technique..best rated hotel,at the price we want, for the time we need...so ended up at Al Ponte Mocenigo. We booked the last room available which was a Standard Room in the new annexe. As mentioned here countless times, the facilities were spotless, the apricot croissants and morning cappuccino set us up for days and days of walking and the staff extremely friendly and polite ( with great osteria and trattoria recommendations). The room was bedecked in greens and golds and certainly felt more luxurious than the price..very Venetian decor. Bed was comfortable and we loved the wifi and Al Jazeera on the satellite tv was great to watch when we'd over indulged in Prosecco and needed to relax before bed.
The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring/getting lost in the city and next to the Vaporetto stop for those not keen on walking..lots of restaurants within 5 mins if you don't want to stray too far and next to a Modern Art Museum for a quick jaunt around the exhibitions and a coffee on the Grand Canal.
I'm sure wherever you stay and whatever you do in Venice will be magical but staying at Al Ponte Mocenigo made everything even more so for us.

This small hotel is well hidden in the middle of Venice, but very easy to find. Simply stop at San Stae vaporetto station and you are few meters away. It is strategically located to explore the city while still being very quiet.

We stayed in the annex which is in the same building, but with a different entrance. It was no problem at all. Just note that there is no elevator if it is a problem for you. The room decoration is superb with a baroque style : high ceiling, stylish furniture, thick & tall curtains, circumstantial light fixtures, etc. I usually prefer modern style, but this elegant decoration is the perfect setting for a stay in Venice. Everything is spotless clean.

Variety and quality of breakfast are both good. The croissant is super crispy and is one of the best I have ever tasted (once the jam removed). Staff is all friendly and helpful.

I made the reservation by internet and the communication was always quick, courteous, precise and detailed. Information was provided even before I had time to ask. Rates are very affordable considering the location.

We prefer small intimate hotels without pretension and this one did not disappoint us. We haven’t looked at any other hotels, but I can certify that it is one of the best (if not the best of its class). Thank you Al Ponte Mocenigo for this amazing experience !

We just stay 3 nights at Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo a few days ago and agree with everyone's review on this hotel. It is fantastic and the service is absolutely 5 stars. Nothing was too much to ask. We will definitely come back again. They have made our experience in Venice very memorable.
