“Charming hotel in Venice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2014

We stayed in this charming hotel for three glorious nights in Venice. The hotel was lovely. It was located in a quiet area of Venice and yet it was very close to most activities. The room was a good size and the bathroom was lavish. I especially enjoyed soaking in the huge bathtub after long walks in Venice. The furnishings were elegant and very Venetian. Breakfast in the courtyard was very special and the servers were very gracious. Concierge was extremely helpful with activities. This lovely hotel was an oasis in a crowded, crazy and amazing city called Venice!

We stayed here for 3 nights this past July as the first stop on our multi-city Italy tour. We chose this hotel based on the great Trip Advisor reviews.

First note about the hotel - super convenient with baggage! It is a short 2 min walk from the Vaparetto stop.

The hotel is located in a quiet area of Venice which does not feel touristy (which in Venice is hard to imagine since when we went there were tourists everywhere). It is about 10 minutes from the Rialto bridge, and about 20 from St. Marks. The neighborhood is great, with excellent restaurants and great wine bars that cater to a mostly local crowd.

We stayed in two different rooms at this hotel because we added a date to our itinerary after booking, and our first room was no longer available. But the hotel was very helpful and moved all our bags for us on the day we had to switch rooms.

Our first room was in the main part of the hotel - this is where you want to be when requesting a booking as they also have an "annex" which is in a separate building behind the main hotel. The room was small, as expected, but clean and decorated in a rich red decor. The bathroom was big with a full tub and shower. We had a king size bed (which felt like two twins pushed together). The one thing lacking in the room was natural light - but this might be a common theme with the way the hotels and streets are so tight and narrow. The only complaint about the room my wife and I had were how uncomfortable the pillows were. This may not bother some and is a minor annoyance when looking at the whole picture.

The breakfast was one of our favorites over the course of our three week trip! A continental breakfast with choices of pastries, quiches, deli meats, etc. The breakfast area was in an outside courtyard or right off the main entrance. I had a Cappuccino every morning and they were delicious.

Our last night was in the annex and it was just okay. Definitely feel very removed and isolated when staying in that part of the hotel. But the rooms were clean as well.

One last note - if WiFi is something of importance to you, this hotel had the weakest signal during our whole trip.

Room Tip: Wi-Fi signal is weak Better to stay in the main hotel if possible, but annex is not terrible

We had a family room for four in main building which worked perfectly with a very modern bath that pleased my daughters. Location in San Stae is a bit off beaten path but manageable with practice at night through tiny alleyways. Breakfast in courtyard is very special. Concierge very helpful with activities. Overall a wonderful place and good value for a family.

We stayed six nights in one of the annex rooms on the first leg of our three week honeymoon in Italy - it was lovely - overlooking a garden, and had a bathtub which we were very grateful for after hours of sightseeing.
The breakfast buffet was very nice (and the servers really pleasant and cheerful), with lots of options - salami, cheese, hard boiled eggs, quiche, cereal, juice, capuccino, tea, croissants, buns, etc. They were able to accommodate my husband's need for Gluten free options.
The bed was very firm, as is common in Europe - but they have a pad that can be put on it upon request for us North Americans who are used to something softer.
The location is very convenient - a half block from the San Stae vaporetto stop, and only about a ten minute walk to the Rialto bridge once you've figured out the winding back paths. It's about a twenty minute brisk walk to St. Mark's Square - again, once you've figured out the windy narrow streets of Venice. (Which is very much part of the charm of Venice - the best part is getting lost, and getting away from the main tourist routes)
I highly recommend this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Room Tip: The annex rooms are a good value, as long as you don't mind being around the corner from the mai...

I just came back from 6 weeks Euro trip. I travelled to Zurick, Lucern, Bern, Lugano, Venice, Florence, Pisa, Rome, Paris & London.
I found out that this hotel has best location, best room and is super clean.
Walter & Sandro were the best host.
Staffs were not only hard working but also provided excellent service.
This Hotel has the best breakfast buffet.
I was told that Paris originated croissant, and has best croissant. I had tried many croissant in many bakery in Paris.
To my opinion, Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo has the best croissant that I ever had.
This hotel was the only hotel that offer beverage as I checked in.
I can't say enough how excellent service that they provided.
They have done a fantastic job in managing their hotel.
They left me great memories during stay. I would return without thinking twice whenever I get chance.
You will not be sorry on your decision. Don't waste more time looking. You have found this gem.

If you ever going to Rome. Stay away from Hosianum Palace. It was the worst hotel that I ever experience. Extremely poor service, lousy room, filthy hotel.
I got ripped off from taxi service to the airport that hotel staff arranged on my behalf.

Room Tip: Room located in main hotel.

We booked a 3 night stay here at the beginning of a tour around Italy based on the great reviews that this hotel has on Tripadvisor. All I can say is that what a brilliant place this is, right from check in to leaving we couldn't fault a single thing. The location is great, only a few meters from a vaperetto stop on the Grand Canal, all of the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful and the decor is beautiful, typically Venetian in style.
We enjoyed our breakfasts in the secluded courtyard (the warm croissants, fresh fruit salad and cappuccinos were a great start to the day). Don't be put off by its two star rating, we stayed at much higher rated hotels during our trip to Italy which weren't a patch on this hotel and as we are now planning our next trip to Venice we wouldn't think of staying anywhere else but here.

At first, when I saw all the reviews I was a little doubtful since they were all excellent but I just stayed there for 3 nights with family and realized they were all truths. From the moment you arrive until the moment you depart, the service is excellent.

The rooms are very spacious and very we'll decorated; bathroom renovated and very clean. The breakfast is really good and the ladies that take care of it are great, always offering you something else.

Location is nice, away from St. Mark's but in a really nice are, several restaurants nearby and access to a canal which was really nice coming and going to the airport.
