“Great as a pre-cruise destination”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

This hotel is all about location. It is in the same square as the bus station for airport access and next to the people mover for port access. We were immediately upgraded upon arrival and we were extremely well looked after by the staff. All in all a wonderful start to our holiday.

the hotel location was excellent but the exterior looked drab.the reception was tiny and led to a small breakfast room which served a basic continental breakfast.there was no lifts and we were on the second floor and the stairs were not friendly.the room suite which was over 300 euros per night was lovely.we had several windows mostly looking on to the square.this was a good spot for the cruise terminal and there was plenty of shops and restaurants nearby.

Room Tip: no lifts so ground floor as no one to help you carry bags

My wife and I enjoyed our two night stay at the Ca Doge prior to boarding our cruise ship. We had a large bedroom in the main hotel with a nice bathroom but a minuscule shower - be careful when using it! But lack of an elevator is a bit of a problem indeed.
We flew overnight from Canada and were quite tired when we arrived. The receptionist suggested we leave our bags and explore until our room was ready. However, when we explained we needed to rest now and go out later, she arranged for our room to be made ready right away. Thank you to her and to the excellent and pleasant chambermaid for this!
The breakfast buffet was more than adequate and we enjoyed some of the different 'packaged' meats as well as the other spreads and cheeses offered. Kept us going until late afternoon. The hotel is in a quiet and pleasant neighbourhood near various restaurants, mostly just a brief walk over bridges from the hotel. It was a longish walk from St. Mark's Square but we were on holiday and in no hurry, stopping to sightsee and to window-shop. BUT: beware of pickpockets and people with handheld credit card scanners bumping into you.
Ca Doge is small with some odd rules about entry outside of the hours when the front desk is manned. A man at the desk whom we saw only once recommended to us an out-of-the way, but fairly close by, restaurant which was excellent. Thank You!
So, Ca Doge is perfect for cruise ship passengers given its proximity to the People Mover which takes just s few minutes to the Cruise Dock; followed unfortunately by a longish walk with suitcases to our Cruise ship. Also, the Airport bus stops really close to the hotel.

Room Tip: Main building is convenient to avoid the parking lot issues; but NO elevator

If you come to Venice by car, Ca Doge could be a good choice as being a property that can be reached by car and with a private parking lot. For cruise passengers it is also convenient because one only take few steps to get the People Mover to the port.
Otherwise there are a lot of very good and comfortable lodging options nearby Piazzale Roma. However one must consider being a hard task to drag heavy luggage over the Venice bridges even if the chosen hotel stays near the railway. Nevertheless is possible to leave unnecessary pieces in a locker at railway station or at a Baggage Storage next to People Mover entrance at Piazalle Roma before going to your selected hotel.
Besides is possible to hire a porter to carry the luggage. There are many of them at the train station and the he relieve worth the price paid for this service.
The Ca Doge is a small hotel, without any food service but a small room used for the breakfast which is very simple and unattended. No lifts in the main building. The annex has a lift, but to go there you must sneak in tight spaces between cars in a jammed parking lot. Spacious rooms well maintained and the bathroom is good. There is also at least one spacious apartment very convenient to accommodate two couples in different rooms.
The receptionists were very attentive and courteous. As conclusion, Ca Doge could be chosen if you travel by car or you are going to make a cruise.

We stayed at the Ca Doge in the dependance, which has an elevator. the main hotel does not have an elevator. With luggage to log around it is very convinient. The room was spacious with a good size fridge and a new remodeled bathroom. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable.
The best part for us was that we could walk acroos the bus stop Piazza Roma, this is where the bus from the airport drops you off and where right there. The next morining, we used the People mover to get to the cruise ship. If possible get the tickets early to avoid the lines. Safe and clean place to stay before or after a cruise.

Room Tip: book for the dependance instead of the main hotel. People mover very close by if you go on a cruise.

My wife and I stayed at Ca Doge for one night prior to our recent cruise from Venice. You take the bus from Marco Polo Airport to the end of the route--and you're there! Cheap and convenient trip from the airport. The People Mover, which whisks you and your luggage to the cruise ship terminal is right across the street, too! The hotel is more like a bed and breakfast. It's nothing fancy and in fact looks depressingly sad on the outside. Check in was quick and easy, but getting your luggage across the jammed parking lot can be an adventure. There's a guy who will help and I never spent better money on tips. Our room had skylights instead of windows and that was a little strange, but the window shades close electronically, so it wasn't a problem. Breakfast was included and was filling, if not special.

Room Tip: Ask for the annex. It has an elevator but the main building does not.

our one night stay at the Ca'Doge was what I expected - clean with adequate breakfast - nothing Inexpensive in Venice -- but it saved us dragging luggage around the island like hundres of other were doing. Has tv;safe clean beds and rooms - unfortunatel we were on second floor - no lift so does not suit anyone with hip or knee probs.
IDEAL FOR CRUISERS with everything at hand - transport of all types banks market restaurants etc. for one night IDEAL

Room Tip: all rooms have shutters so noise is a minimum if you have windows shut and aircon on
