“Nice location and good spacious room.”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

Very good location to walk around. Spacious room and we can use the laundry for 15 euros.
Staff is very kind and nice.

Our family of four stayed here (2 teenagers) in July 2013. The location is superb, just a few minutes walk to St. Marks Square and it is not far from Rialto Bridge. We booked the Apartment Classic Standard for 340Eur a night. The apartment was large by European standards. It is quite sparse and our room was a little dark because it did not have windows out over the canal, but it was clean and had everything we needed for a great price. We stayed in Apartment 203. The front desk staff were very nice (not super friendly, but efficient and helpful). It is located on a side canal so you can take a water taxi from the airport which was a neat experience, albeit a little pricey (over $100). We would definitely recommend Residence Corte Grimani for a family. I also agree with prior reviewers that while the additional charges for the kitchenette and washer do feel like "nickel and dining" - these charges are clearly stated in your confirmation.

Room Tip: We stayed in Apt 203 which was quite dark and did not have a view, I would request to overlook the c...

We stayed for 2 nights and the stay was as we expected. The check-in process was smooth. The location was very good. We traveled with kids and started our day early , we were able to come back for the kids to take a quick nap in the afternoon and then start over again in the late afternoon. This hotel is virtually steps away from Saint Mark's and Rialto.

We stayed at Corte Grimani for 2 nights in February and were very happy with our choice.
I can not really understand people complaingin about extra charges and kitchen being locked- all this information is very well stated and available at the time you make the booking, so this should not be as a surprise. The same goes about finding the hotel. It is Venice, a city with canals and small streets, you can not expect to have everything laid out on the field. With a little homework and preferrably a working cellphone7 tablet with a map (sattelite) becomes very handy when you wander around in the Venice anyway.
You can take a water taxi or a gondola to the door of the hotel, it is a fancy option. We did not do it, walking from Rialto bridge was just fine.
Hotel is really nice and charming. I was surprised by the size of the rooms, you literally get an apartement. As a family of 4, we were really pleased to have enough space, usually we struggle to fit in with all our luggage and kids :) At the same time it was beautifully designed and main bedroom was very romantic :) If you want a room with a view, it will be more expensive. We skipped it, because of the time of the year and we did not spend so much time at the room anyway...
Bathroom was big, with a bathtub. There is wifi, but spotty in the bedroom. Although kitchen is locked, you can still use the main utensils and make coffee or tea and eat your snacks/ small breakfast.
Location is good, you can walk to the main attractions in Venice and easily grab a breakfast, lunch, dinner around the place.
I can not praise the people at the reception enough- they were very helpful, providing us the maps, all kind of tips. Feeding our kids with candies and keeping our luggage long time after we checked out. They are able to give you tips about sightseeing and restaurants, just ask!

Room Tip: Rooms with a view are more expensive

My boyfriend surprised me with a birthday weekend away to Venice.

The hotel is in a great location, close to all amenities and St Marks Square, restaurants, shops etc.

RECEPTION-
Welcoming, with coffee and vending machine - which is cheaper than drinks out in the city euro 1.50 out in town around 4.50.

ROOMS-
Spacious apartment with kitchenette, living space, good sized bathroom with fresh towels, powerful shower, hair dryer and heated towel rack.

The beds were comfy, we had no view, but didnt care as your not in Venice to stay in the room! all day!

There is also free wifi, which is nice.

Only drawback was you do have to pay a "tourist fee" which was 10 euros, but not going to break the bank.

I would recommend this hotel to friends and family, great location, easy to get to and just what we needed!

The hotel itself is very quiet, clean and the room was spacious. The location is hard to find but in a great spot and situated on a beautiful canal. We chose this hotel based on the reviews but our personal experience was not at all pleasant or what we expected.

Our first surprise on arrival was learning that the kitchen and washer/dryer that were listed on our booking was actually an extra charge. We specifically booked this room to have those amenities and then upon checkout found out that we would need to pay 50E to use the kitchenette and 15E to use the washer dryer. They are kept under lock and key so you either pay the fee or have no access to them. It definitely left a poor taste in our mouth since we were paying a good amount for the room. They should have listed those things upfront and I felt ripped off the minute they started asking us to pay or they would keep it locked.

Secondly...the hotel itself is far from soundproof. To us it wasn't anything that we didn't expect in an older hotel but unfortunately we were "blessed" with a grumpy neighbor that liked to call the front desk staff whenever the kids made a sound or walked too loudly. Although the calls were apologetic and courteous from the front desk it left yet another bad taste in our mouth in regards to the experience (esp since the "noise complaints" came well before the quiet hours of 10pm) When we booked an apartment we assumed it would be family friendly and instead it was a very uncomfortable experience as we tried to keep from upsetting our grumpy neighbor who apparently sat in her room all day.

Had it not been for the surprise charges at check in and the bad neighbor that made our stay feel very unwelcome, I would give this hotel better reviews. We absolutely loved Venice but our stay in the room was not nearly as pleasant or enjoyable as it could have been.

Dear Madam,
We respond this complain because helpful for other guests. The fee for the kitchen and washer are well clear on our website and on Booking.com and Expedia.com. Even on Tripadvisor reviews there is the information on the kitchen fee…

First visit to Venice for the family and thanks Trip Advisor rafters, you were spot on. This hotel was absolutely fantastic, spacious, friendly and with a great location between St Marks Square and The Rialto Bridge (which is the better stop for the water taxi from the airport...less steps to go up with luggage.
