“A nice break from the crowds, pre-beach season”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

We took the Vaporetto (15 min) from San Marco to Lido, then we rented bikes from a place very close to the Vaporetto stop. They give you a map of where you can ride and a few points of interest on the way. It was one of the nicest diversions while in Venice if you have a half a day to devote to it. There are cars on Lido, so be careful. There are a lot of bikers on the island though, so we never felt in danger.

Many buildings on Lido are shuttered or vacant. It is apparent that hard times have hit the island from a tourist standpoint. Hopefully things perk up during beach season. The Grand Hotel des Bains is downright depressing to see boarded up. Even the buildings where the Venice Film Festival is held are looking shabby.

All in all, we would do it again.

“some venice downtime”
Reviewed 20 May 2014

whilst its just another island to visit, and it doesnt have the focus point attractions of some of the others, the serenity and normality of the lido is very appealing for a break from the busy streets of venice and a stroll along the adriatic is always a fine time.

“Cycling the Quiet Streets of the Lido”
Reviewed 20 May 2014

We took a vaparetto to the Lido, then rented a double bike for 2 hours from RideOn near the stop. With few cars and lots of bicycles, pedaling down a tree-lined boulevard next to the Adriatic and past the mansions and luxury hotels was very relaxing.

“Lido....and now for something completely different....”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

A great punctuation in the Venice stay, Lido is a quick vaporetto ride from Venice and after a brisk walk across the island, you reach a clean, white, free beach. The central area is like a sophisticated beach strip and this is the perfect antidote for teens missing late summer in North America and tiring of urban culture....museums, churches, great architecture and art galleries. If you rent bikes, you can see the whole island easily in a day; our teens wanted sun, sand, cold drinks and gelati. . As many suggest here, there are lovely hotels and restaurants in quiet areas off the beaten track here, however, only Venice has the intensity of Venice, so I would not want to stay here and commute!.

“A beautiful place to stay”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

A must visit place, just 10-15min boat/vaporetti ride away from Venice. You can rent a bike and explore the area as much as you want. It has a beautiful beach to walk on. You can many super markets, restaurants, cafes and stores in this area. There are many hotels available, cheaper & good in quality than Venice I believe. One can make his base here while exploring Venice, instead of staying in Venice hotels (which are not upto mark). Nicely built house, neat & clean road, beautiful beach, silent environment.

A lovely life.
