Fantastic and a really good base to go out from and explore, Venice, Verona, Lake Garda and many more beautiful places.

After venturing out on these fab excursions, time to relax on the beach or around your pool. Drink Strawberry wine and eat fresh cooked food Italian Style.

The street at night is a hive of activity and lots going on to suit all. In the day hire a bike and ride around the strip and stop off for a drink or delicious ice cream.

Deffo recommend it and would deffo go back.

We enjoyed staying on the Lido and walking through the streets. It was interesting to meet up with some of the locals and have a chance to talk to them. Not a whole lot to do, but I'm glad we had the opportunity.

Take the public vaporetto (many go east to the island). This will be worth your time! We visited rather accidentally, but spent a splendid evening there. Walk the main road across from the water-taxi drop off, straight down the Boulevard, to the beach. Not white sand, but fun nonetheless, especially if you have kids. Yes, it's worth it. Beach umbrellas everywhere, little cafes. Go!

If you're looking for a change of scenery from the other islands (Venice, Murano, Burano, etc.) Lido is the place you should visit. You can spend the day biking around the island or enjoying the nice beach.

If you go to the lido, start off early and make it a full day event and follow on to burano to make it coat effective. It is just a beach and the beach bar is VERY expensive as is the little cart that goes up and down the beach selling cold drinks and ice creams. We really wanted to visit Burano as was told that it was a pretty colourful fishing village that wasn't spoilt. On approach, we weren't disappointed, all beautifully coloured buildings. On arrival, walking throughout the streets it appeared that at only 4pm it was closing down. On asking a shop owner, we were told that this was the case. We really wanted to eat an evening meal here - shame if we went again, would love to explore more. The main thing that I noticed about both Venice and surrounding areas is that it's not all about big supermarkets. Smaller businesses providing local, fresh produce like meat and fruit and veg are still independent - just like it used to be in the 80's before the likes of tesco and sainsbury
