“Small rooms, nicely decorated, excellent location in Venice”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

You do have to prepare ypurself how to get to the hotel, but on the website is a very clear explanation. Then you have to look for a small sign in a very narrow alley leading to the hotel entrance. Friendly staff at reception, we liked the decoration, and fresh flowers everywhere.
Rooms are small, with a double bed, a littje tabel, minibar and some luggage storage. Included is a small bathroom which looks nice and clean. Only negative point during our stay was changing water temperature in the shower. Best breakfast we had on our citytrp, with breads, yoghurt, cakes, cookies etc. Possibility to leave our luggage after check out. We were very satisfied with our choice for this place.
Also we got 10% discount with the adjacent restauarant where we had lunch and dinner.

Hard to find the entrance (see the other reviews) but only a few minutes from the Vaporetto stop San Zaccaria. Very friendly staff, breakfast very minimal (as it often is in Italy). Was too late to eat in the restaurant owned by the hotel (Aciugeta) but got snacks at the bar in the little square and wine and coffe at a very reasonable price. A simple hotel, but just a few minutes from St. Mark's square, and I got a fantastic deal for a room with a great view of the square. I'll definitely use this hotel again.

After reading the reviews I 'googled' the location of the hotel which helped me find it once I was there. Anyone going to this hotel should ask for directions to the Rio Hotel and then to the right there is the tiniest of alleyways (literally your shoulders can touch either side of the alley) and its at the top of there.
Very clean, comfortable room, cheap minibar, very good ensuite, good breakfast - rolls, fruit, salami, cheese, cereal, jams, yoghurts, juices & coffee.
Fantastic location, 3 minute walk from St Marks Square.
Only downside - keep the window closed at all times - i didn't on the first night and woke with 7 bites on my face.
Would definitely recommend and would go back again.

We booked 2 rooms for our family in July 2013. Tiepolo is in a great location. The hotel makes great use of limited space, the rooms are spartan and spotless-clean in an IKEA kind of way - a pleasant relief from the usual fusty-dusty-musty. The air conditioning was frigid-cold - and that's a very good thing. LOTS of breakfast; fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt, salami and cheese washed down with a decent espresso coffee. Super helpful front staff was really good about finding a physician for us; saving us a trip to the ER and the insurance headaches when 100 Euro slipped to a local doctor got us a course of antibiotics for an infected digit.

We found this hotel on Hotels.com. The problem was, there was no direction to find it except the address. Getting off the boat in Venice is confusing enough but staying in a small 13 room hotel where few merchants are familiar with the name was quite a challenge. We had to keep asking and asking until we found a Porter who pointed us in the general direction. The house numbers do not go in order as in the US so that was another challenge. I don't know how directions could be provided. We certainly did our best to look like lost tourist and then saw other tourist looking the same way in Venice.
Once we arrived, it was worth the struggle. Not a million dollar view, but very quaint and lovely. A quiet hotel. I would stay here again.

I really love the place, I stayed there from 2 to 5 September 2013 and enjoyed the experience. I had stayed there before and that was the reason I went back. The location is perfect, the room was clean and, though not much furniture, the room was nicely decorated. I point out this because I have stayed at hotel near St Marcus sq and the furniture seemed to be composed of "leftovers", no two pieces matching. Staff was kind and helpful.
