We stayed at this hotel in November 2013 for our silver wedding anniversary . We had a lovely stay - could not fault the hotel on most aspects - staff attentive, clean and well appointed room - turndown service and chocs ! Gorgeous bathroom, good and plentiful breakfast and fantastic location about 2 mins from the Rialto bridge ! . The hotel was also minutes from dozens of restaurants and well known designer clothes shops. In our opinion very good value for money since our breakfast and flights were included in our package with British Airways . One thing we missed was tea/coffee facilities in our room and an information pack .

This hotel is lovely and right in the heart of Venice. It is beautifully appointed and the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. They are a bit quiet about the services such as room service which is there for breakfast and small snacks but you have to ask. As they don't have an actual restaurant it makes sense. But what they did supply was delicious.

Room Tip: Our room was a junior suite so we could get a king size bed. But the price was very reasonable. It w...

I initially spent ages sifting through the seemingly endless hotel options which Venice is blessed with and finally came upon A La Commedia which looked like a good option. Firstly, the location is very good - about a minutes walk (down a tucked away alley) from the Grand Canal and just a little further on from that is the Rialto Bridge. Everything is walkable from here and the hotel itself is set within the chic retail district with many well known designer labels surrounding it.

Once inside, the hotel is furnished in a luxurious, traditional Italian style. Our room was at the standard 'Deluxe' level and I was a little surprised by how compact it was. The views too weren't exactly anything to write home about - we looked across into a Venetian living room on one side and then into a shared balcony on the other. For me, it was probably the room which slightly let this hotel down - there were a few holes, scuff marks and frayed soft furnishings scattered around the room which shouldn't really be there in a hotel of this supposed class.

Although we've stayed at a number of Italian hotels so expect a rather basic breakfast, we did find this spread rather utilitarian with a limited range of food options.

Having said all those slight negatives, the hotel has a lot going for it. The staff were all helpful and friendly, it's extremely clean and the roof garden must be spectacular in the summer.

All in all a good hotel with no major flaws, but for a relatively pricey room cost, i just wasn't blown away.

This is an excellent hotel in every way: the staff are friendly, endlessly helpful and their multi lingualism puts us monoglot Brits to shame. Nothing is a trouble or problem for them.
The rooms are beautifully fitted, warm, comfortable and splendidly equipped. I would recommend a La Commedia without hesitation and look forward to our next visit.

I have stayed here previously on business and chose it for my wife's birthday trip to Venice for that reason. We booked a Junior Suite via bookings.com at a really great rate and then were upgraded on arrival. The staff are ALL very courteous and friendly and make you feel very welcome. It is not a big hotel and is better for that. The room we had was spacious but not ostentatious and modestly decorated. We sleep better and for longer than we can recall for some time due in part to the comfortable room and the utter peace that is Venice at night.
My only gripe was with the electronic key and lock which was one of the least user friendly ones I have come across and it seemed to cause problems for many guests.

The roof top terrace is okay but don't expect it to be spectacular. It does provide a welcome respite after a days walking around the city.

Stayed in this wonderful hotel as part of a two centre holiday and would fully recommend this hotel to anyone. Staff very helpful and polite and we were upgraded to a junior suite. Ideally located for everything in Venice. Roof terrace bar an added bonus too.

A great hotel, brilliant staff and perfectly placed!
The staff at the hotel where amazing and so helpful!
Rooms were cleaned everyday, fresh sheets and towels (and chocolates on the pillows - what more could you ask for).
Roof terrace is spectacular.
The hotel is perfectly placed for the st marks square and a stones throw away from the Grand Canal.
Will be going back ASAP.
Thank you Hotel A La Commedia!!!!

Room Tip: Our room was amazing!!!! and I would assume all rooms at at the same high standard!
