What a fabulous time we had-worth every penny. We took a water taxi to the hotel which stops at Rialto and made our 5 minute walk to the hotel so convenient. The staff at this hotel are wonderful. They were even in costume for the Carnival. We had room 205, which was a little small, but beautiful and we didn't intend to be there much. The bed was extremely comfortable and the nightly chocolates a treat. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice. We went to the Hotel Luna Baglioni for a costume and masked evening of wonderful food and drink all evening. The entertainers were funny, as was our participation in two dances ! As it was Carnival everywhere was packed, but recommendations from Robert and Andrea on reception still managed to find us a restaurant or two. We highly recommend Ai Mercati and Bistro de Venise (a little expensive, but worth it). Another jewel of a place is I Rusteghi, where you will find excellent wines, hams and cheeses.

My boyfriend and I have just come back from a 4 day stay at A La Commedia. I strongly recommend this hotel! Excellent location, the staff are very friendly and the room was very clean. We had a slight issue with the key to our door which stopped working, however as soon as we reported this to the reception, the staff acted promptly and efficiently, offered us a complimentary coffee for the inconvenience as we waited for them to fix it. I love the decor of the rooms... very Italian, the breakfast was tasty as well! Would definitely stay there again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4-day stay with A La Commedia, which is in an ideal position being situated only 1 minute from the water bus stop at Rialto, and within very easy walking distance from St Marco's Square. Our suite (upgraded on arrival at no extra charge!) had a small balcony which overlooked one of the many small shop-lined calles. We were just around the corner from the Goldini theatre. Good buffet breakfast offering fresh fruit salad or cereals, cold meats and cheeses, as well as scrambled egg and delicious cooked ham. Would certainly stay at A La Commedia again, avoiding next time the hefty bar charges for a gin and tonic!

Room Tip: If you can afford it, 306 is a very nice suite and quiet.

Hotel is located in a great position, practically in between the Rialto Bridge and P.zza San Marco...so, basically u can't get lost BUT, no matter how they tried, the personel was snobish, they have reccomended us APPARENTLY places to eat where they have their 'cut' and it was a total failure. I, speaking italian, was asking specifically for 'local' places and they have sent us to Bistro... one of the two most expensive restaurants which, by all means, is nice if u are the type of ppl who want 6-7 waiters 'dancing' around you ALL THE time... but ok...Hotel was great, we had a suite, service and all was at maximum lvl. If u can afford it, it is worth every penny spent....but be sure not to be a smoker... they do have a beautiful terrace but it rained all the time so...
Dont EVER forget, they, as all the other, can arrange a FREE trip to Island of Murano. OK, was nice, short and commercial from I remeber 25 yrs ago (we even bought something) but I wanted more of the 'bacground' so we went to the local museum as well...result: my neck hurts from stairing at the chandeliers but NO REAL history there... just technique. If u want a real bacground and a bit of romance, must read is “The Glassblower of Murano” written by Marina Fiorato. After read this book, and after I already been to Murano, it was the only reason I went to see that place again in research of bits and pieces of that 'story'... results: 0 points. As if 'they' are hiding that part of the history of Murano. So Museo Arceologico is a 'cra'p unless u want to pay 12€ (two persons) for.. looking at the old cups. But as I said, it is offered (seceretly) by all hotels, at least to go there...just be careful HOW u are getting back. Vaporetto states it stops at 'San Marko+... it didnt. It stopped at St. Zacccharia. We, foolis, didnt have the map and we made ALL the way to... nvm. So be careful.
But, getting back to the hotel... really romantic, really good placed, really expensive but worth it.

Room Tip: Room/suite no.110. Noo view but loads of choccolates for good sleeping. Very clean and spacious...

This hotel is lovely. It is very well and attractively furnished and ideally placed in Venice. It is a short walk to Rialto Bridge and to St Mark's Square and there are lots of restaurants around it. What sets the hotel part though is the staff. From reception to room services and bar to breakfast, the staff are warm, smiling and friendly and will help in any way they can. You never feel your request is inconvenient! It make sit a pleasure to stay there. We took a travel kettle as there are no facilities in the room to make tea (as is true for most hotels in Italy). We heard no noise from outside at all as everything is sound insulated but it is a quiet street that the hotel is on.

Room Tip: We chose one grade up from the most basic and got a 'junior suite' which was a large bedroom...
