“Decent hotel in great location”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

We were here for 3 nights in April. The staff were pleasant and helpful, breakfast was decent and the rooms were what you would expect for a 3/4 star hotel, however the lack of free wifi is frustrating. The location is the best aspect of the hotel, very close to the grand canal and a short walk to st marks square. Dorduro also easily accessible over ponte academia.

This simple hotel is in a fantastic location between two vaporetto stops and a very short walk from S Marco or the Accademia, and with a range of decent restaurants nearby. Despite being so central, it's also very quiet other than the Sto Stefano bell which rings at 7.30am. The interconnecting rooms were brilliant for us taking young children, and we were very pleased to find that we weren't all in one room. There was a full bathroom and one shower room with a very powerful / hot shower. It was reasonably priced and good value for what it was. Only small gripes were that breakfast wasn't fantastic and the WiFi charge really over the top. We'd definitely go back.

Room Tip: 5 and 6 can either be set up as a suite, two seperate (small) rooms or interconnecting family rooms.

Me and my girlfriend came to this hotel on 28th march, We`ve never been to Venice before so didn't really know what to expect. We got told by a friend to catch a bus and then get a water bus to the hotel but upon arrival we found out that is was another 2 euros to get a water taxi straight there which takes about 45 mins. When leaving the airport there is a ticket office where you can buy bus and water bus tickets to and from the airport or you can buy a ticket which allows you access to all water buses throughout your stay its like a 24h, 48h or 72h ticket but to be honest we didn't need one we much preferred to walk and explore Venice on foot. As you leave the airport with your ticket turn left following signs for water bus its about a 7 min walk to the boat and there are 2 choices there is bus no.1 which you get off at San Marco square and walk or you get on the orange line to Giglio which is literally 2mins walk from the hotel both are 15 euros per person or 28 euros return each. The hotel is fairly easy to find the hotel number is 2711 so we just followed the numbers until we reached 2711 which is down a alley leading to the grand canal.

On arrival to the hotel the man was friendly and professional he explained everything about the room and gave us our key. We were in room 26 which in my opinion would be the best view of any of the rooms for the grand canal it had private terrace which was baked in sun all day, the only problem was it got very hot in there, there was air con which was a benefit and was clean and tidy a little small but it was enough for us and the bed was so comfy I was asleep in minutes. The towels were changed every day which was great. Breakfast was o.k it could be better with more home comforts but we knew it was continental which was fine it kept us filled up until dinner so we didn't mind but we both agreed it could of been worse.

Another thing about our stay we decided to take £500 worth of euros which we got an exchange rate of 1.14 and said if we needed any more we would change it out there which was a mistake the highest rate we saw was 1.02 but it was mainly around the 0.8 euro to £1 mark so you were getting less for your pound so we recommend changing enough over here before you go.

But overall really nice hot couldn't of wished for a more perfect break away and the hotel definitely played a part.

Room Tip: We would recommend getting a canal view as theres nothing like waking up and walking out to the balc...

What a lovely hotel only a short walk from the square. Although it is a little difficult to locate if you plan before hand it is easy. Make sure you have a map before you arrive. Get off the water bus at Giglio and follow the hotels directions from the website. The hotel was clean and well presented. We had a deluxe room (23) which has a view (just) of the Grand Canal. The room was a good size with everything you could need, but no tea making facilities. We had clean towels every day and the bedding was lovely. Breakfast was fine with plenty of choice, including fruit and healthy options. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall a lovely quiet hotel in a good part of the city. Really nice walking past all the expensive shops each day - even if I could only window shop! The square beyond the hotel is good for sitting in the sun drinking a glass of wine in the early evening. Great stay. Would return.

Room Tip: Although the larger rooms at the front do have a view of the Grand Canal it is only if you open the...

My husband and i have just returned from 3 night stay at Dei Dragomanni, we loved it. First of all it is very important to have friendly helpful staff at your hotel in Venice as it is hard to know where to find somewhere nice to dine (there are hundreds of eateries) and how to find different places of interest, The staff are so helpful and friendly at Dragomanni that finding anywhere is made easy, Sandro was fantastic, a very nice guy and happily helped us with any query.

This hotel is situated right in the heart of everything, St Marks Basilica is a stone throw away, It is 2 mins from Academia bridge area and is practically on the Grand Canal, Close to Rialto bridge, Everything is walking distance, we found the location perfect.

Dragomanni is a lovely hotel, it is clean and nicely decorated with spacious rooms that are very Venitian with a twist of modern. We stayed in room 16 which did not have a bath but as we were on the move constantly a shower was all that was needed to freshen up and go again, the bathroom was lovely with all mod cons and they cleaned the room gave new towels every day and fresh linen on the bed, they also replenished the toiletries which also included a shoe shine mitt which my husband was very pleased with lol. I must say that the bed was so comfortable its possibly the best 3 nights sleep i have ever had.

To buy drinks in Venice it can be very expensive and as it was my husbands 30th birthday we bought some nice wine from the supermarket which was mega cheap for good wine, most wines are corked but the staff at the hotel were only too happy to open the bottle for us. Little tip : the bottles of wine we like were costing us 30 Euros when out but cost us 7 euros from supermarket. We found that having one or two in our room before going out and then drinking Spritz when out which in most places is only around 3.50 saves a lot of money, no point throwing money away :)

Breakfast is continental, plenty of choice for a sufficent brekki, nice bread rolls, ham, salami, cheese, boiled eggs, cakes which were delicious, Croissants, nutella, fruit, pink grapefruit and so on, the coffee is lovely and comes in a large jug with a large jug of warm milk i could get 4 coffees from it, Cappuccino was lovely and the hot chocolate, fresh orange juice all very good.

All in all i could'nt fault it, it was a very good experience here and we are going back next year

If you are going to book this hotel : At the airport upon leaving arrivals cross one road and you will see the bus services, look for ACTV buses (this will be on the screens) you need bus No 5 to Pizzale Roma, 6 euros per person.

At Pizzale Roma go over the bridge onto the Grand Canal. Find Vaparetto (water bus) stop No 1, ask for ticket to Academia stop, the water bus will drop you at the Academia bridge. 7 euros per person one way. If you dont like walking alot then u can purchase a ticket that is valid for a couple of days here that u can use to see the sights for a little bit more, so u can get to your hotel and further travel along the waterway afterwards.

Cross the Academia bridge and follow the street round (bearing right) to a square where you will see a statue of Niccolo Tommaseo, this statue is facing directly towards an alley, the alley is between Le Caffe and Faidra Hanna jewellers, go down here and over a little bridge where you will come out into another square, turn right as soon as you walk into this square and go down the alley that you see Dei Dragomanni is 3/4 of the way down on your left. There are no signs to show hotel, just a plaque on the wall, this is with all hotels it seems. you will see that at the end of this alley is the Grand Canal. You are here :) enjoy.

First off, if you haven't been to Venice, all hotels are hard to find. Most are in little back streets off of winding streets. This hotel is no different. It is a nice hotel and nice staff. Take the public bus to the Venice station and then take the public water taxi to the Accademia stop. From there it is still tough to find but once you cross the bridge you are really close.
