“A wonderful hotel.”
Reviewed 12 September 2012

The reviews of this hotel are accurate! It is wonderful! We stayed for three nights. Our room was very small but this is Venice and it is an older building. The hotel staff is very nice and accommodating, Anna was especially warm and friendly upon our arrival! The staff booked us a water taxi to the train station and gave us several restaurant recommendations. All of which were very good. This hotel is very charming. It's also very reasonably priced. The services and the hotel exceeded my expectations. I would recommend taking a water taxi to and from the airport or train station. The dock is accessible to taxi's and lugging your luggage around Venice seems very difficult!

Room Tip: We arrived early and my request for a canal room was able to be accommodated. There are only six can...

What an amazing hotel! We, my new fiancee and I!, traveled Europe and stayed in a lot of hotels, this was by far the best! Pay the extra for the canal view, it was one of our best memories from the trip! Sitting at the window watching gondolas go by, laying in bed listening to them sing in the morning! Ahhhh, Venice, you are amazing! This hotel was THE best location in Venice. In all the twists and tangles of the streets, it was great to have a hotel easy to find because it was pretty close to st. Marks. So if ever lost, follow signs to st. Marks and then you can find your way back! We did lots of hotel research and it paid off! Hardly ever would I want to go back to the same hotel on a vacation, I like to experience different places. But in this case, I would stay here over and over, if ever we find ourselves lucky enough to be in Venice again. Oh, and it was hot hot hot outside, so the cool air conditioning was such a retreat! One night we bought a bottle of Bellini and sat out on the hotels landing on the canal. So romantic! Nice staff too, we arrived way early from our overnight train. They said they would hold our bags, but I felt so gross after the heat and sleeping on the train. Checkin wasnt for another several hours. They let me use the bathroom to wash up a bit, but then thankfully told us our room was ready. I was so thankful that they let us checkin so early! If you are reading this I am jealous, because 1, you must be going to Venice soon, and 2, you are booking hotel Becher now! You will love it! Venice was our absolute favorite city topping london, paris, and munich. Trust me, stay here! Happy travels!!

This hotel is a hidden gem. Beautiful rooms! We stayed in the little suite with balcony over the canal, and it was incredibly romantic for our second honeymoon. It was our first time to Venice.

The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and friendly and made everything so easy for us; from finding a place for lunch AND dinner, (which were excellent) to organizing a taxi and looking up train schedules for our departure. They let us keep our luggage there until we left the city, and the taxi picked us up on the doorstep. What an experience! The taxi ride was as fun as the gondola ride we'd had earlier!
Venice was indeed very crowded and hot (as we'd been warned since it was August) on the main tourist streets and the lines for attractions were stupid long, however just a few streets off the main drag there were many treasures to be found; courtyards, shops and quiet canals with no one around. Getting lost is a must as part of the experience: on one side street we heard only the sounds of a piano lesson coming out of a nearby garden window with music and laughter echoing over the water and bouncing off the stones of the houses. THAT was the Venice I'll remember.
The lines to the Academy Museum were non-existent, and the artwork by Bellini amazing. An oasis of cool and quiet away from the crowds as well.
This hotel is nearby everything, but enough removed to be relaxing. The only thing we did not like was that the staff serving in the breakfast room were a bit grumpy, but we were so blissed out by the rest of our experience we just giggled with each other about it. (Which probably annoyed them even more.) Ahhh, Venice! We loved it here.

Room Tip: Ask for A/C in the summer!

This was my second stay at Hotel Becher. My first stay was with my family in a family room which was beautifully appointed and quite spacious.

This visit I was traveling with a girlfriend & we couldn’t believe our luck when we were offered a room with a small Juliet balcony overlooking a canal - as long as we didn’t mind sharing a bed. Mind? We couldn’t get to our room quickly enough!

Now the room was tiny but the balcony was amazing. We had to drag ourselves out of our room as it was just so much fun standing on the balcony watching the gondolas go by. It was also beautiful having the doors open & hearing the accordion music floating by.

The hotel can be directly accessed from the canal so if you catch a water taxi you can be dropped off on the doorstep, as long as the tide is not too high.

The hotel is in a great location, fabulous for walking to all the main tourist attractions. I would highly recommend getting up early and taking some photos before the crush of tourists arrive.
The hotel staff are extremely friendly & helpful and made several good suggestions for places to drink & eat.

Breakfast was served in a tiny but beautiful room overlooking the canal. There was a good choice of items offered and the staff were friendly.

There is a complimentary daily water taxi to Murano. Be warned that this is paid for by one of the glass blowing factories and you get dropped off on their doorstep on the pretence a factory tour. You are whisked through the factory then straight to their sales area. If you are not interested in buying expensive items or you find it difficult to resist high pressure sales, find an alternative way of visiting Murano, like the Vaporetto, & shop along the main shopping area.

There was so much to like about this visit but definitely a highlight was sitting on the hotel landing, drinking Bellini’s and watching the gondolas drift by. Bellissimo!

I am writing this to you as I sit in a well air conditioned, Venetian ornate decorated room here at the Becher. Mossimo (who speaks Italian, German, and English) and Anna at the front desk are the biggest asset to this hotel. Anna showed us 2 rooms at check-in and let us decide between a 3rd floor room or a 1st floor canal view room. After check-in we were given WiFi passwords, breakfast hours (breakfast is free), and scheduling for a free boat ride to the island of Murano. Breakfast has great pastries, salamies, cheeses, yogurts, fruits, and choices of juices and coffees. Hotel is centrally located in the San Marco region. Bathroom shower stall is a bit tight but clean and modernized. Beds are clean and very comfortable. Also the room has a mini fridge to store anything cold, such as waters for the next day's adventures. My wife and I love this place!

Room Tip: Ask to see 2 rooms or a choice of rooms if the hotel is not overbooked, helps if you can schmooze a...

We stayed at the Hotel Becher for three days from the 16th August 2012. We flew into Venice which was fantastic and then got a water taxi right to the landing of the hotel which was amazing. It was like being on a movie set. The water taxi driver played Italian music as we travelled through the canals to the hotel. The hosts at the hotel were so friendly and helpful and we felt like we were welcomed into Venice as friends and not tourists. We enjoyed our stay in the junior suite, which was a very large room with a balcony overlooking the canal. The landing is on a large canal which is a main canal on the gondoliers route. We enjoyed our Spumante, which was part of a deal in our booking, on the landing, watching the gondoliers pass by. The hotel is in a great position and it was an awesome experience staying here. The young man at the desk (regretfully we are not aware of his name) is so friendly and a great asset to the hotel. On our last day he made sure we had breakfast in the landing, which was very considerate. I hope the staff and hotel enjoy the success they deserve!

I have nothing bad to say, the staff was really cool and wishing to help, they told us about the free hotel boat taxi to murano (you have to go there), the rooms are a little bit old but neat, well decorated and confortable. The breakfast was great.
