“Brilliant hotel in a brilliant location”
Reviewed 24 April 2013

Only 20 minutes by vaporetto No. 13 from the station in Venice, Fundamente Nóve, this hotel is a lovely place located on the San Erasmo Island and is an oasis of peace and quiet after a long day in the busy city of Venice. The chef of this hotel is great, he made us delicious dinners every day, The hotel staff is very friendly and when we got a spider infested room, they immediately moved us in another. The view of the island is so peaceful, you feel like in a village. The rooms were clean, prices good, food delicious, there was quiet, I think, that we couldn't make a better choice. The only problem was, that there was a smoke alarm on the ceiling, a constantly blinking red light, that was disturbing my sleep. But this can be overlooked.

Such a wonderful place to discover. A real escape from the crowds. Sant Erasmo island is fantastic - a glimpse of Venice as it always was and in just 28 mins you are back at Fondamente Nove and the husstle and bustle. Julie and Tonino are extremely friendly and knowledgable. Rooms are all you need really and the real highlight for me is renting the bikes and exploring their island. I will check this place for availability first when I next return.

Initially upset I couldn't get a Hotel for my family at last minute & decent price in Venice I took the Lato Azzuro at a very good price on a bit far away island St Erasmo or a one-noght stay. But what a warm welcome (starting with a very nice email from the Hotel after the booking with precise instructions & boat schedules). Many bicycles to rent at the Hotel to discover the green island. A really nice get-away from busy Venice, if you stay several days. And I 'd say especially if you have family that does not just wander around & visit the city & its palaces. Will come again, in summer, for a longer stay…

Only twenty minutes by boat from Venice. Enjoy a bicycle ride around the island. Close by is a lovingly renovated castle (ok it's a very grand tower) with good exhibitions. Nice walks and beaches to swim from. Clean and simple rooms with comfy beds.

Sant'Erasmo is the grocery of Venecia and as such a locals island.
The prices are better than on the main city which makes it a good location if you don't mind wasting a little longer on commuting. But it's also a plus for those like me that like to see the real world and not only the touristic settings. You will defintely share the vaporetto with the locals and hear the stories and the worries that go through their lifes.
The hotel is family oriented (bikes and other stuff) and has a shuttle bus that connects with the vaporetto making it very convenient.
The only downsize is that it's a little bit more moisty and bug infested than our accomodation in the "city".

Just returned from a fabulous trip to Venice made even better by discovering this hotel.
Il Latto Azzurro sits on a quiet corner of the island of San Erasmo. San Erasmo is a calm retreat away from the intensity of Venice. Easily accessible by vaporretto it's an ideal spot to explore the city and the beautiful islands in the lagoon.
The hotel is simple, clean and relaxed. Breakfast was a buffet of fruit, cereals, toast and jams. The staff are all friendly and helpful, Julie was especially so on our visit by taking numerous messages from Italian friends.

Free bicycles available to do some exploring or reaching the waterbus at Capanone to get to Venice.

Highly recommended
