“Outstanding location, excellent staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2014

It would be difficult to beat the location of the Hotel Al Codega, which is situated in a quiet courtyard only minutes from both St. Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge. By the same token, it would be difficult to top the quality of the staff. From the moment we arrived, we were treated kindly by the young woman who staffs the front desk each afternoon. Lorenza, the woman who staffs the desk each morning, was particularly generous and attentive, always greeting us with a smile and making us feel at home. Various other members of the staff were pleasant and professional, but it was the genuine kindness of the two women who staff the front desk that made the biggest impression on us.

Room Tip: A tip for travelers? If you're lucky enough to get to Venice, and fortunate enough to stay at th...

Good location very close to Piazza San Marco and all other sightseeing and shopping.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, especially with questions regarding water bus times and routes. The hotel street map (free if you ask at reception) is very clear too.

The room was a good size and was clean and tidy. Air con was good and there is a free safe in the room. Mini bar was reasonably priced.

The continental breakfast had a very good selection, perhaps the best I've seen in a hotel in Europe. On our last day we had to leave early for the airport so they made us a packed breakfast to take with us.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the courtyard have a nicer view but are in sunlight all day. Rooms overlooking the...

This was the best of 4 hotels in 4 differ cities that my wife and I visited on our honeymoon. As per other reviews I'll summarise the important bits:

1) location - amazing, smack bang in the middle of the Rialto bridge and the town square. Get directions to this place, you will NOT manage to find it from the street as it has it's own sneaky entrance
2) the staff are fantastic
3) the price was a bargain
4) breakfast was a true delight with a huge range to choose from
5) rooms had all the essentials and the bed was very comfortable
6) when you first arrive get the number 1 ferry to this place - it cuts out 80% of the walk from the taxi drop off point

Enjoy!

This hotel was situated in a typically quaint Venitian courtyard and the hotel, though small was in a good location for St Mark's square etc.

Hotel rooms were comfortable but like so many Venice hotels very small, even though I paid extra for a larger Deluxe room.

After travelling with my family touring some of Europe and visiting a total of 7 countries including London, Paris & Athens, the staff at this hotel weren't very friendly ( apart from one of the female receptionists who was nice ) it seemed they were happy to only do the minimum required when it came to dealing with guests. In both Rome and Venice I found the Italians the least friendliest, far less friendly than the Greeks, French & Spanish.

Very disappointing.

This is a wonderful hotel, well located, steps from everything, including cafes, shopping, sites, and water transportation.
The staff is excellent and go out of their way to be helpful. The hotel is set in a small courtyard, so it is very quiet. The breakfast, (included), has something for everyone.
I can't say enough positive things about this property..................a gem in Venice!!!

This is an excellent choice for a visit to Venice. It is large enough to by staffed 24/7 (with helpful, friendly people) and small enough to be authentic Venice. The beds are comfortable and the breakfast is superb. The hotel is midway between the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's
Like other reviewers have said, this hotel can be tricky to find: Use the map provided by the hotel and note landmarks so you can find your way back (esp at night). If you follow the hotel's directions, you can get from the Line 1 Rialto stop to this hotel with NO bridges; traveling with luggage is therefore not a problem. I highly recommend this boutique hotel.

Room Tip: My room was on a top floor and faced the courtyard. I enjoyed that: interesting skyline views and s...

Stayed here for 2 nights after a cruise and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The hotel is in a very pretty, quiet courtyard about 5 minutes walk from the mayhem of St Marks Square, easily found with the very clear map the hotel provides. An excellent nights sleep in a very clean, quiet and comfortable room. The breakfast was impressive with a wide selection of pastries, cheeses, ham and fruits. Very pleasant and helpful staff, too. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the courtyard.
