Excellent hotel of good value in a prefect location. Once you get your bearings you are literally less than 5 mins from St. Marks and the Rialto.

A great breakfast to start the day and very a helpful front desk make it even better.

Really odd plumbing noises in the room we stayed in but hey it's Venice and they have done a wonderful job modernizing bathrooms in a very classic hotel

Highly recommended

This small boutique hotel was outstanding. After having read other reviews, we decided to book the hotel for a few nights prior to our cruise. It was everything and more that the reviews said and the location was excellent (once you found it).
After booking the hotel sent an e-mail with directions and a map from the various arrival points. This was very helpful and got us very close. The hotel is in a quiet Venetian courtyard which was wonderful, but a little difficult to find. Once we found it, it was a great location.
The rooms were large for European standards with beautiful hardwood floors and a large marble bathroom. The bed was very comfortable often beckoning in the afternoon.
We knew the room included breakfast, but were amazed at the quantity and quality of the meal. A great way to start the day off.
The front desk staff during the day were exceptionally helpful - giving suggestions, directions, or just providing a history of the city.
Overall a wonderful experience.

This hotel is a gem tucked away in the middle of a courtyard. It is difficult to find but worth it, so close to St. Mark's the Rialto Bridge and shopping. We loved the location and the staff was friendly and helpful with directions. Our teenager had her own room off of ours which was perfect. The bathroom was small but most seem to be. The breakfast was one of the best we had in Italy but very crowded in the morning, get down there early.

Room Tip: Room 310 was perfect for a family of 3 as there is a separate area for a child or teenager. It also...

Location is perfect. All the sites on my tour list were a short/medium walk away. I liked the hotel and they covered all the basics. Room was spacious, bathroom was not. Takes some choreograph of moment to negotiate. Not a complaint, but as a single traveler I try to find hotels with common spaces (e.g. bar) for end of day commiserating with my fellow travelers. I thought because the hotel had bar, it would be an option. Common spaces are narrow/small. Feels more like an apartment with a front desk and breakfast room. Don’t take this as a negative review. The hotel is very nice, just wasn’t quite what I was looking for.

Based on other traveler reviews, we chose this hotel and what a great decision. Beyond the wonderful staff and beautiful room, the thing that really stood out was the peace and quiet. You are only steps away from the busy streets of Venice but the courtyard felt like it was in the middle of a sleepy village. Hard to find this spot - look for the Giorgio Armani store and you are just 20 steps away from the entrance to the courtyard.

Sitting having our final delicious breakfast in the lovely breakfast room with the best hot coffee yet to experience in Italy. When I say excellent in every way this is because for the time we stepped into the hotel we fell in love with this hotel in the private courtyard. The staff are so friendly, helpful beyond belief ( thank you Andrea for all your assistance in water taxis and boarding pass prints) and very professional. Clean, newly appointed and elegant rooms of a decent size when considering we are in Venice. Even though this hotel is right in the middle of the major tourist area, shops (designer and other) and restaurants it is very quiet due to the courtyard it sits in. A very pretty hotel for the outside. Beds are very comfortable, biggest shower and great bathroom with lovely soft towels. Not more to say than one of our favourite hotels now and would come back in a heartbeat. Thank you everyone for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: We had a basic double and was lovely.

My wife and I visited the beautiful city of Venice in the first week of June this year, on our first visit to Italy. We booked a four day stay at Al Codega with the website Expedia. Soon after the booking was complete, we received a confirmation email from the hotel and also attached with it was a Map to the hotel. The map gave directions to the hotel from Rialto Bridge and St Mark's square. Both are a short walk away from the hotel. A good detailed map is part of the essentials in Venice, as you could easily get lost (even with a good sense of direction). The hotel is conveniently located close to Rialto Bridge, which is a major tourist attraction in Venice. A few minutes' walk to St Mark's square, gondola rides and good Italian restaurants. Although the hotel building appears to be old (almost all buildings in Venice are very old), it is well decorated with flowers and has a pleasant appearance. Its only one entrance is accessible from three streets which are filled with shops selling souvenirs, clothing etc. Like most buildings in Venice, there is very little space in the hotel's hallways, breakfast room and reception. There is one elevator in the building which is good for three people or two people and a large suitcase. The reception is on the second floor so guests have to use the elevator on the first day, especially after the long walk trying to find the place. We found the staff at the reception desk to be friendly, knowledgeable about the area in general and they helped us book a walking tour in the city. We had booked the classic double or the twin room. The room wasn’t very big. There were two windows that didn’t open. It had a twin bed with just enough space to walk on either side. A small fridge with all items in it charged at exorbitant prices. Surprisingly, the television in the room was behind the mirror on the dresser. The room had orange color wallpaper, which made everything look golden. The wifi in the hotel was good and was included in the price for the room. The bathroom was clean with space relative to the room. On one of the days, the cover of the exhaust fell on my head when I was in the shower. The staff cleans the room twice a day. The thermostat for the A/C in the room doesn’t go below 18 degree celsius. Every time we left the room and came back in we had to reset the A/C temperature, which was very annoying. The temperature in the room was ok the first three nights but we could not sleep on the fourth night. The thermostat stopped working and every time we changed the temperature, it would reset in a few minutes to 22 degrees, which was definitely not the temperature of the room. It was very hot and calling the folks at the reception several times did not help. The breakfast in the hotel was a typical American style with variety of bread, jam, yogurt, croissants, cakes, cut fruits etc. with coffee and tea. There was a small book shelf in the breakfast room which also had some newspapers.

Overall, the hotel wasn’t bad. We felt the room is overpriced but the location is a big plus and you get to stay in the beautiful Venice Island instead of Mestre.
