Reviewed 17 May 2014

We spent four nights at the Palazzo Stern and absolutely loved it. So many good things have been said on here and we can only agree with them. The location, the room, the terrace, the breakfast, the service, the staff were all excellent.

Our room was a Junior Suite (406) at the front, overlooking the Grand Canal. I notice that one reviewer said there was an ".. awful ceiling mural of African animals....a travesty or a joke" outside room 406. The mural is old, it is beautiful and stunning and adds so much character to the hotel. We loved it. Why does someone with no taste go to Venice?

Others complain about the price of drinks. If you want cheap drinks, then go to a cheap hotel.

We would definitely stay at the Palazzo Stern again. Thank you for your warmth, your attentiveness, and your friendliness.

We got a private water taxi from the airport to the hotel and were immediately greeted by the hotel staff. Everything went very smoothly and our room was ready. All the staff were very helpful. This hotel is in a wonderful location and we loved sitting out on the terrace to have breakfast and for a drink in the evening. There are numerous restaurants nearby, we tried several and they were all very good (and full of locals, which is always a good sign).

We would definitely return to the Palazzo Stern, it was excellent.

This was our first visit to Venice and now we have been it will not be our last. The hotel was excellent, located on the Grand Canal with a water bus stop outside it was ideally situated to get to all the points of interest. We were told by friends before the trip that eating and drinking out was going to cost a fortune, we asked the concierge (who was brilliant) the first day where we could dine out and he pointed us in the direction of a few squares down the back allies where we had great Italian dishes at very reasonable prices.

I would definitely recommend this hotel

Room Tip: We had a suite at the front of the hotel, it was great to open the French windows and just sit and w...

This was our third visit to the Palazzo Stern and it remains a favorite of ours. The staff are helpful and the site is next to a Vaporetto stop, making it convenient to get around. The terrace at the front of the hotel is a real time-waster. One could sit there all day and watch the world go by!
We will be back!

Room Tip: Most of the Junior Suites overlook the Grand Canal.

I first visited Palazzo Stern last September with a friend and immediately knew I wanted to return with my husband for his birthday treat, that hotel, that city - perfect!
What a lovely surprise to arrive in our room to some complimentary bubbles and a welcome back message - very much welcomed by the pair of us.
The staff, during our stay, could not have been more friendly, pleasant & helpful and always with a smile on their face.
Only three things let them down 1) being in a junior suite I expected turn down service every evening and it only happened on the first night 2) the bath plug didn't work and as requested was not replaced (we used the sink plug instead) 3) egg cups were a little in short supply at breakfast and if we wanted top up of tea or coffee we had to ask.
We availed ourselves of the offer of a complimentary private taxi to a Murano glass factory, fabulous trip & tour, just be prepared for some hardish sell for you to purchase something and if you are not prepared to pay E1200 for 8 wine glasses don't be pushed or guilt tripped into it, they are supremely beautiful products but don't bankrupt yourself.
Would I return again, without doubt! Such a beautiful hotel and setting, why would I hesitate?
Lovely - just lovely!!

Room Tip: Front corner suites have views over Grand Canal, but be aware of canal noises

Buongiorno!

Thank you for your very nice review, and thatnk a lot for the things you pointed out.

Sure you had to expect a turn down service every day, not only in a junior suite but in all our rooms. It's easy to understand that something went wring during your stay, and this something must be fixed immediately.

I'm sorry concerning the shower, unfortunately we have not been able to find the replacement during your stay!

Concerning the Breakfast, we replaced the missing egg cups (they were in back order!). And sorry if you had to ask for more coffee and tea. There's nothing bad in asking something to the waiter, but there's nothing bad also in asking to the guests if things are fine and if they need something else! I will talk to the waiters.

I look forward to welcome you again here in Venice, have a nice day!

My wife and I spent six days in Venice, and we had searched for a hotel that would enable us to enjoy our visit. The Hotel Palazzo Stern more than met our expectations! It is located away from the tourist crowds of the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark Square, on the more quiet section of the Grand Canal near the Accademia Galleries and Gugginheim Museum. There is a Vaperetto stop at the hotel's entrance, and the hotel has a balcony that overlooks the canal, providing wonderful place for cocktails and breakfast. The breakfast was well served and quite delicious. The interior and rooms of the Palazzo Stern are beautiful, and the renovation of the Stern leaves one with a sense of what the palazzo once was like. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and professional, with Filippo and Paul providing assistance with enthusiasm. My wife will return to the Palazzo Stern on our next visit to Venice.
