Taxis... be carefull the taxi from the airport was 50 Euro. a total rip off.
the bus station is on the edge of Venice and there are many bridges to walk over to get into the City. the bus to the airport is 6 euros and leaves every 15 mins. its only 40 minutes away.
if you are going to the cruise ships there is a people mover at the bus station which is a fast train one stop away from the ships. only 1 euro
. You Dont need to take a taxi which is 20 euro ( a 7 minute journey)

Mestre is a lovely town to stay in which is just a couple of bus rides from Venice. Dont Stay in The Alla GIUSTZIA , wouldnt recomend it.

“Fast and fresh”

We were looking for a quick bit and found this place on trip advisor. There isn't a whole lot of space to eat in...but we got there early before the dinner rush. Ordered a normale sized pizza for ?5, it came out hot and quick. As good as you can get at some of the more expensive places.

Venice is a city located in northeast Italy sited in a group of small islands separeted by canals and linked by bridges. We went there in summertime and it was extremely hot but we enjoy the visit a lot! We stayed in the continent (Mestre) which was a wise decision because the island is very crowded and you have to carry your on bags. If you are loaded this would be a huge problem!
To reach the island you have to take a motorised public transportation named vaporetti (waterbuses), which ply regular routes along the Grand Canal.
The classical Venetian boat is the gondola and it is mostly used for tourists. One would say the ride is expensive! The secret is to bargain with the boat owners and never agree with the first price you hear. You will get lower prices for sure and the ride is magic! So enjoy your visit!
