Wonderful design hotel ! A must have.

A gorgeous design hotel, very clean, romantic and central (between Academia and Rialto bridges). Furthermore, traghetti all over. The bedroom is fully equipped and the architecture of the hotel is so elegant ! At least, the personal is polite and helpful. Breakfast is splendid.

Recommended for all the design and fashion lovers !

This small hotel is absolutely perfect for a Venice honeymoon - the rooms are sexy (get a luxury canal view - its worth it), quiet and beautiful, the staff are unobtrusive and not at all unfriendly (as previously mentioned) and the location is far enough away from San Marco to be less busy but near enough to the Rialto for the bars and restaurants.

I could see how the back alleyway could be daunting on first arrival but then I dont see why anyone who was paying for such a designey hotel wouldnt be arriving by water taxi to the private dock anyway. We didnt find the alleyway scary in any way though it would be a pain if you had lots of luggage.

The Palazzo Barbarigo is a beautifully, modern hotel right on the Grand Canal. The location is fabulous: It's out of the crowded tourist area, but close enough to everything to not feel isolated. I am so happy that we chose this hotel over some of the larger hotels near St. Mark's, as that area is horribly crowded during the summer. The interior of the hotel is very sleek and sexy. I would definitely recommend splurging for a suite overlooking the Grand Canal. We did not do this and definitely regretted it upon arrival. The standard rooms are very nice, but they are a little small and, most importantly, they do not have that lovely Grand Canal view that you want so badly to see every time you look out your window, so definitely splurge for a suite if you can. As for the staff, I have very mixed feelings. The woman at the front desk was absolutely wonderful. She guided us to a fantastic restaurant our first night and helped us secure a lovely gondola ride. She also helped us book a water taxi for our morning departure. The gentleman who manned the front desk when she was not around, however, was horrible. He basically wanted to collect a paycheck for surfing the internet. I found him to rude and not helpful at all. Every time my husband or I approached him for information he seemed annoyed that I was interrupting him while he was on the computer. He should frankly be let go, as he is currently detracting from this hotel's otherwise flawless environment. All in all, my husband and I had a lovely stay at this hotel and we would definitely stay here again (in a suite) if we were ever to return to Venice.

Amazing hotel - v posh and stylish. The room had a huge flat screen tv, and there was also a tv in the bathroom (we stayed in a normal room). The bed was also v comfortable - egyptian cotton sheets.

Location is also good - close to the Rialto Bridge (5 mins walk) and a vaporetto stop (3 mins). Walking to San Marco (where all the main touristy sites are) is about 20 mins away.

If you decide to walk to and from the hotel, you will need to pass through a narrow alley (which can appear to be a bit scary at first), but we did not find that to be a problem because some of the streets in Venice are like that....so it just added to the Venetian experience for us.

We asked for some hot tea to be delivered to our room one evening, and were pleasantly surprised to find that our tea came with a few slices of lemon cake. Both the tea and the cake were complimentary.

Would definately return to this hotel when we are next in Venice!

We celebrated my husband's birthday here in mid-June with his family and mine. First of all, we were able to get an amazing rate (although we had to prepay in full) for this hotel so we started off on a good foot. The hotel itself is lovely. I would strongly suggest getting an airport transfer by boat through the hotel -- because, as others have mentioned, finding the back entrance is nearly impossible. The rooms are beautiful/ the maid service is polite/ the mini bar is well stocked/ huge flat screen, TV built into the bathroom mirror. The staff, in particular, the bartender in the second floor bar/ lounge area are helpful and attentive. We had amazing drinks on the balcony overlookin the grand canal.

The was my second time in Venice. My first we stayed at the Hotel Danieli - which is a grand old hotel, but I have to say I prefered here (with the exception being the location -- you can't beat the Danieli).

In terms of things they could improve -- they need to have the internet in all rooms -- as it is you have to go to the desk and get a 1 hour password to use in the bar -- this is silly. Secondly, they need to serve some sort of small bar menu.

Stayed for three nights at the Palazzo Barbarigo. The location is great, tucked away at the end of an alley near the Campo San Polo, with a number of good places to eat within a 10 minute stroll and the nearest vaporetto stop about 5 minutes away.

The room we stayed in, which had views across the canal had all mod cons but also retained a great deal of charm. Breakfasts in the stunning bar area on the first floor, consisted of a huge selection of fruit, pastries, cooked meat and cheeses.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.
