“Eat, Enjoy, revel”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

What a treat. Ate at Alle Testiere last night. It's small so reservations are a must and it's difficult to find but it's worth the trouble. I went with my gentleman friend for dinner. After walking in circles until we were a bit late we finally found it. There is a tiny sign written on the street lamp over the door. After viewing the menu we decided to try the tiny soft shell crabs for our appetizer. There weren't many but they were good, and interesting. We then ordered the grilled seafood platter for two. We almost backed out when we were told the platter had sole, monk fish, sea bream, prawns, and hound. Yes! hound!!! Our waiter jokingly told us the hound was a small dog. He then admitted it was a small shark, which didn't sound much better. But in fact the hound was as delicious as the other seafood on the platter. The seasoning perfectly complimented the seafood. To finish we shared a slice of warm chocolate cake. It was not too sweet and very chocolate. If you are going to Venice go online and book this restaurant. It's simple and worth it.

“Make reservations!”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

This is a small place, off the beaten path and very well worth finding. The staff's attitude is that they are preparing food specifically for you and they've done a lot of thinking about what is fresh and available, so they can offer only the best. Their suggestions are clearly intended to improve your experience there and not just upselling you like you find in so many other restaurants. Definitely my favorite place in Venice. But you must have reservations. It's very small and it seemed like everyone who came in without a reservation was turned away.

“Amazing lunch”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

We walked right past this restaurant in spite of being warned it was easy to miss. It's worth the effort to seek it out - but make sure you have a reservation. Luca di Vita was a lovely host and the food was fresh from the market and prepared incredibly simply and delicately. This meal was our favorite lunch during a three week trip - we only wish we'd had the opportunity to try it for dinner.

“A must stop in Venice”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

This place absolutely rocks. Don't judge this place by its size….it is an absolute gem. The variety and quality of the food is exceptional. We have been going regularly for the past 5 years and every time, we are surprised by the inventiveness and subtlety of the dishes. Wine recommendations are sensational as well and leave a little place for the desert. My favorite, which I recommend you reserve when you order the food, is the tiramisu - simply outstanding. The chef has published a book, which is also well worth buying…..Reservations a must.

“best meal in Venice”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

Best meal in Venice by a long shot and one of the best meals we had on our 2 weeks in Italy. The menu changes daily and everything is super fresh. A little hard to find and don't try to come here unless you have a reservation. Very small restaurant with impeccable food.
