We were wandering around the city and almost sat at a restaurant on the water. But after looking at the menu and at what people were eating, we decided to pass. The prices were high and the food looked unappetizing. Luckily, we just walked a short distance and found La Rivista. We had a great lunch of salad and pasta and of course some nice wine. My biggest piece of advice for tourists in Venice is to stay away from the most touristy restaurants. They are usually expensive and not very good. Explore the neighborhoods or ask a local where to get a good meal and your tummy will thank you! La Rivista gets a big thumbs up from us. So glad we found it!

We had a fantastic long lunch at this restaurant. It's surprisingly easy to find - just a couple of steps further along from the Academia bridge on the church side of the bridge. We were travelling with our 10 months old baby and unlike most places in Venice they had a high chair and the staff was so helpful and very welcoming. We had 3 courses, all fish based. The starters were an excellent selection, presented beautifully on a board. The main was tomato and sea food spaghetti. Absolutely wonderful! A little spicy but just in the right measure. And the desserts were sublime! So much so that my husband had 2!! The chef Sheila came to talk to us and was very friendly and help us choose our meal. Fabio the metre'de was very kind and helpful, we asked for a quiet corner as he ensured we had just that. Thank you both for the perfect long lunch! We'll be back :-)

The La Rivista restaurant was just a few blocks from our hotel near the Academmia vaporetto stop. Popular with the locals and tourists alike, this small restaurant appears to be run by just the waiter and a cook, but service was excellent, and the food and wine delicious. My wife and I enjoyed dinner here twice over three days time, with the ravioli and the linguini with clams being above average. My favorite dish was the filet of Sea Bream, also known to the Italians as Orata or Gilthead. With just a touch of seasoning, and the flavor of ocean perch, crappie, or blue gill, I would have loved a larger portion.

We were in Venice on a simmeringly hot day. This place was a good answer to "what's for lunch?"

We sat at outside tables under shady umbrellas. A delicious lunch included a cold meat platter, pasta salad, green salad, and glasses of rose wine. Complimentary side plate of marinated veges and a bread basket were also good.

Service was professional and friendly.

Add some strolling musicians and a light breeze, and it was just what we wanted after visiting the Guggenheim museum, not too far away. The local is on a side street in the Dorsoduro district, you are only a short walk from the Accademia.

The interior is deco-sleek, and would be a nice place for wine and related dishes at another time. We'd be happy to come back!

An evening right out of Lady and the Tramp! Sitting on the patio beneath an umbrella with a light drizzle and a local artist huddling under a bush to avoid the rain while playing an accordian down the street providing some background music. Great wine with wonderful food and service. I would recommend to anyone.
