What a great place!

We went here after a recommendation but without a reservation for our last night in Venice. We were ushered into a small back room and to a table for 2, the room lined with bottles and a gentle buzz of local guests. The waiter was very helpful and we launched into a local prosecco at his suggestion. Wine was available either by bottle or by the glass and they offered to provide a glass of anything they had in the restaurant should you so wish. The range of local wines was extensive and interesting. Prices for food and wine were also very reasonable - and given the quality which we were to receive are outstanding.

We had just begun our starters when the table next to us was occupied by what looked to be a visiting football club on a night out. They were clearly regular visitors and knew a good place when they see it, but were also unreserved about their singing and chanting. We could have felt unwelcome at this point but both the staff and the group were very charming and we were quickly welcomed into the spirit of things - literally as they plied us with a good selection of what they were drinking. Discovering it was a special occasion for us they were even more welcoming and we haven't enjoyed an evening as much as this one in many years. Even the challenges of watching a stream of "experts" trying to mend the new air conditioning became part of the experience and the sight of one of their football guests holding aloft a glass bowl to catch the drips in one hand and a glass of wine in the other - for about ten minutes - will live in my memory for some time.

The food was excellent - local specialities abound - and everything was beautifully prepared and delivered enthusiastically by attentive staff. The host - Mauro - couldn't have been nicer and more apologetic for any possible inconvenience.

Our only sadness is that we didn't understand most of the songs and chants - possibly as we were told they didn't translate well but that was certainly just good manners!

One of the best evenings we can remember, being completely adopted by the staff and guests in this excellent establishment. Dont miss a chance to go here - we will certainly go back - possibly visiting Venice again just to see what it's like next time!

Mauro and team, thank you for a great occasion.

Great food, wholesome, perfectly cooked and served by great staff. No English language barriers, no taking advantage of tourist's and we had to leave a tip for good efficient genuine service - they don't add service or cover charges in their bill.

Wine is so reasonably priced and offered by the glass. Don't stress, just go with your trusty waiter and it will all be worth it. I think we paid approx €3 each glass! Too good.

We loved it, our kids loved it, and all sitting around us loved it.

The Gin selection is the best I've seen anywhere in the world, and no issues offering a complimentary taste to ensure you pick right.

This restaurant is not fine dining, but it puts many stuffy restaurants to shame. It is a experience you must have in Venice.

If you love food and wine this is for you.

Our last nice in Venice, we came here looking for a good food and wine experience. We got one of the best of our lives. Having no wine list was interesting, but lots of bottles were on display throughout the space, and they offered any of it by the glass.

The raw seafood plate, the gnocchi, the faroana (guinea fowl - probably the tastiest eating bird) and duck mains were beautiful. And the wine... well we started with a couple of glasses of Bollinger, then got a bottle of their oldest Brunello (1999), and for 100 Euros it was really a bargain. Amazing! Thanks SImone - we feel like we made a friend - see you next time!

This was the best meal we have had in Italy. We have been to Rome, florence and now venice. We have actually found though our travels that €70 does get you a great meal which is why this place was so great! If your fed up of rubbish food and crazy prices, come to this place!
