“perfect one night”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

It was very difficult to find lodging for just one night on a weekend in Venice, but fortunately Casa Baseggio accepted our request. Since we had such a short visit Marco suggested a small local museum instead of the crowded spots with long waiting lines, and his suggestion was perfect. Also we had a delicious meal at a quiet local trattoria and I very much appreciated being away from the hordes of noisy tourists. Thank you Casa Baseggio, I hope to return some day out of season!

We stayed in Venice for three nights. I couldn't imagine staying in the "downtown" area. This little B&B was just far enough away without being far away. When we got there we took the €7 water boat. We did this because the directions Marco gave us included the boat. It was worth paying to find the b&b! Marco emailing directions-- bc they do ask that you email and let them know the time you will arrive- made finding your "home" super simple. Please know though we walked to the station to leave and it took 15-20 minutes. But it was early and I don't think the boat was running!

Marco and his wife, Alessandra, make you feel very welcome! The breakfast was yummy and the room was perfect. It does have AC but the ask you turn it off when you are gone. And though some may complain, trust me that the room cools quickly upon return. The marble floor help! The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was perfect!

There are plenty of restaurants around for dinner so no need to walk back to the center for dinner.

We loved our stay here and would recommend it to anyone!

We stay for 3 nights in April.

We loved that the room was clean, quiet and bright.

We also loved that the B&B is in a neighbourhood away from the masses of tourists, but close enough to the main parts of Venice to get there in a short walk.

The owners were fantastic. Alessandra in particular was extremely helpful, friendly and overall made us feel very welcomed.

We enjoyed our stay very much - would absolutely recommend the place.

We had a fantastic stay here. The rooms and house are very clean and well decorated. These are the best beds which we have slept on in Venice. It is nice and quiet at night, we could sleep just fine with the window open. Marco was a wonderful host and he prepared our breakfast on the beautiful veranda. It is not next to the hustle and bustle of San Marco or Rialto bridge, which makes it a perfect place to enjoy the quiet, quaint and romantic side of Venice.

While the B&B is not centrally located, you get to see more of Venice by walking the back sidewalks and canals to get to and from it. When pressed one time, we made it from the Doge's Palace back to the B&B in 15 minutes. But the leisurely stroll was better. The room was great, but the best part was Marco and Alessandra - very hospitable and very helpful.

Room Tip: There's a suite on the ground floor with a kitchenette and tub. There's a good sized grocery...

This family-run B&B is situated in a quiet courtyard in the Cannaregio district, very well placed for Orto ond Fondamente Nove vaporetti stops (Orto is the airport Allilaguna boat stop). From the airport arrivals, it's a 10 minute walk to the dock, and the fast boat runs every 30 minutes, and takes about 30-40 minutes to reach Orto. You can get tickets in the airport (Euro 15 each one-way) or for Euro 16 on the boat.

In the adjacent streets there are good restaurants and wine bars, recommended by the B&B proprietors, who were most helpful in advising on visitor attractions, transport and any number of other enquiries.

The family live on the premises, and speak very good English.

Breakfast is plentiful, continental style.

Call to arrange your arrival time, and if arriving after dark, take a torch so you can find the courtyard entrance, although the Casa Baseggio website map is very accurate.

Within easy walking distance of the Grand Canal, Ca' D'Oro vaporetti stop.

I'd thoroughly recommend this B&B to any travellers looking for a friendly little establishment.

Room Tip: There are 3 rooms, two doubles and a third which is an apartment which sleeps 4.

Marco and Alessandro made us extremely welcome. The room and facilities are excellent. Perfect location to make you feel you are living as a 'local' not a tourist. breakfast on the sunny balcony overlooking a quiet courtyard.. Wish we could have stayed longer.
