“beautiful and the perfect location to explore Verona”
Reviewed 13 September 2011

From the outside, you can almost not recognize that this place is there. there is only a sign at the door - no big signs, very discrete and you mostlikely would just walk by.

from the inside, the place is beautiful. There are almost no common areas - except the circulation and reception, but that is perfectly fine. The rooms are beautiful and spacious (= the pictures they show), a gateway of piece and comfort after a day walking around Verona.

a. location: perfect, a few steps away from the arena and all old town
b. rooms: beautifully decorated, large, comfortable, amazing bed and bed linen, great shower, big bathroom, silent airconditioning, good noise isolation. i loved to have the large flat screen on the living room and a "separated" bedroom. very spacious.
c. great in room breakfast

although I would go back and recommend it to all my friends, a few min points:

- dont expect lots of tips or even a map from the staff.
- there were signs of a leakage in our bathroom. although it didn't bother us at the time of this review, this really needs to be taken care of.

- BIG MINUS: we left our car at the vallet parking (30 EUR/ day). When the driver brought it back, the car was stinking, but really really stinking like alcohol. i don't know what they did with it, but it took us quite some days to get rid of the smell - and when travelling by car, that was just not nice. Simply not acceptable and MUST be fixed by management - due to this point they get a 4 instead of 5 in this review. Problem is: there is no where to park nearby...

in one sentence: a great stay, go for it, but be aware of the parking.

We stayed in these suites at the end of August with our 13 year old son. The accommodation was perfect for the three of us. A single bed was put up in the sitting room for our son and we were located in the main bedroom. Breakfast is delivered to your room each morning, following your choice of food left out on a card the night before. We have never experienced this style of breakfast eating before, but I have to say it worked for many reasons. A maid would discreetly set the food onto the table. It was quite a relaxed way to start the day, instead of having to rush down for breakfast in the normal way!
The suite we were in was located on the 4th floor and was very hot when we arrived. It would have been helpful if the hotel had left the air con on after cleaning ready for its next guests. In saying that, the suite was very clean, smart and easy to use. If I had one small request, it would be for the suite to have a mirror on the bedroom wall, as the only mirrors in the apartment were in the bathroom and if this was being used, it was very difficult for me to do the normal things a female has to do ie: hair, face etc!
The staff were extremely approachable and helpful. We would definately stay there again. The location was absolutely fantastic for the opera, which we went to (and even our son enjoyed it!).
We found a gem of a restaurant just by chance, called Osteria Casa Vino. We returned there several times during our stay. (Out of hotel, turn right towards location of arena. Pass all the restaurants on right and then turn right before the arch - think there is an ice cream place on the lefthand side of this road. Keep walking passing a couple of touristy eateries on right and you will see the restaurant table outside down a side street called Vicolo Morette. Excellent food and staff.
We caught the fast train to Venice for a day (1 hr 15 min - 90 ish euros for three), which was a worth while trip. My advice would be to eat supper back in Verona!
We also did another trip to Gardaland, catching a 20 min train to Peschira (sorry for spelling!). That was also worth doing, especially for my son!
Enjoy Verona - we did and we will revisit sometime in the future. Thank you to all the lovely staff at Escalus for making out stay very enjoyable!

This outstanding small, all suite hotel is comfortable, elegant and friendly. Only 50m from the historic Arena and their box office, this is the perfect spot to begin a walking tour of the city's main sites.

My partner and I began our week long tour of the Veneto with two days in Verona. Escalus was quite expensive for Verona, but we found a great discount rate. (200 Euros) Our room on the top floor (4B) was outstanding. Huge multi-room suite with every amenity. Free WiFi in the lobby and in your room for a fee.

The bath room was huge and luxurious. Easily the very best shower in Italy. Great products too. Robes, slippers, high end linens and beautiful modern Italian style.

The short street is filled with beautiful high end restaurants and shops. The main pedestrian walking street is just behind the hotel. While with the windows open we could hear the huge crowds milling about, when the windows were closed it was peaceful and quite.

The breakfast was a true pleasure. Delivered right to your room on elegant room service tables, it was delicious and huge! It is impossible to have a bad day after an exhilarating shower and delicious breakfast.

Certainly this was the perfect spot to rest up for the rest of our trip and feel pampered. The best combination of location and comfort. The staff is very friendly and speaks English.

Room Tip: Hope for a large room with the all glass shower room.

Located at a quiet and small street, it's not easy to find the hotel, you have to pay attention to the discrete plaque at the door. But once you are inside, at your room, you will enjoy calm and comfort. Although the hotel doesn't have a restaurant, the breakfast is served at your room and you have several restaurants just few steps out. The best is that you are at the nervous center of Verona shopping alley, the Arena and the Pizza Bra, where you can hangout by the afternoon, before you decide where to eat. It's my favorite place in this lovely city.

Chic rooms in great location. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
We enjoyed the complimentary prosecco.

We stayed here for 5 nights recently. Ideally located right in the heart of the old city, near to restaurants, sights, shopping. Reception was good and all requests were well handled. Rooms are modern and clean. Breakfast is served in the room, at the time of your choosing, and the breakfast menu is quite comprehensive. Sky TV.
I would stay here again.

after Rome and Florence we were ready for something different and Verona and this hotel offered both. We enjoyed the smaller city, and the Italian modern decor. The suite was not large, but more than adequate for the three of us. It's location was perfect for exploring the city, yet always having easy walking distance back to the hotel. It's vertically structured, so there is no large lobby, but the elevator was easy and rooms quickly accessible. The breakfast was generous, and the room offered enjoyable dining with a view above the major walking street. The staff was young, new, and worked hard to be helpful. Restaurant recommendations varied widely, but there is plenty of choice, and the promenade area always had adequate food and great people watching. We decided to visit Verona on a whim, and would certainly return. We'd be very pleased to stay at the Escalus again.
