I needed to book a romantic suite and after seeing the pics in the website, I booked an expensive one with the Hotel Colomba D'oro. However the room wasn't at all like the ones in the website, it was smaller with brown quite tacky furnitures, giving an 80s atmosphere. Basically it was a normal double room with a wall divider in order to create a "living room" with a small sofa. Also the bathroom had a disabled wc toilet which I found difficult to use.
In the past I stayed in rooms where the room size was double, there were TV and sofas and the room was still considered a double room.
I don't consider the room I booked in this hotel as a suite, I had a look at the other rooms during the cleaning and they were pretty much the same, with same bed style and furniture, basically no distinction with a normal room and a suite.

The location is great, in the centre, however very noisy as a popular discobar was just under our window and we couldn't sleep until 4.00am when finally the discobar closed.

Staff at the breakfast room were very helpul and kind.

I don't recommend this hotel based on my experience if you are looking for a romantic suite, for other reasons you may like it.

Amazing place! 1 minute from Arena. Everything and everybody smiles at you.
We arrived early, but our room was waiting for us, so is car parking spot, which in a real treat in Verona. We felt like Harry Potter staicase going into different directions was filmed there. Room is big, cozy nice decor. Washroom was a size of my hotel in Paris. The only porblem we had- quen size bad combined .. from two separate beds, so with all the love in the air, we found oursleves on the floor in between the two.. Breakfast was a nice treat. Even so we had to leave by 11:30, hotel had no porblem with us keeping car without additional charge for another few hours...

We stayed in this hotel over the New Years Eve and we were pleased. The hotel has an excellent location, 10 meters from Piazza Bra, still in the quiet street. It has been recently renovated, our room was spacious and nicely decorated. Hotel staff was helpful and kind. Only two things- free parking is on the street- if you find a spot. Otherwise you have to park in the garage for 21 Eur. The view from our room was to the other building's fire escape.

This hotel is desperately in need of some attitude adjustment. The staff is unhelpful to say the least, particularly the one woman at the front desk previously mentioned by another reviewer, who needs to be reminded that she is working in a service industry.
Our room was quite acceptable, a good size with a very nice marble bathroom. No terry robes however, which you might expect in a supposedly 4 star hotel. The ac was on and worked well and with the windows closed it was very quiet. The decor could use an update, but the sheets and bedding were very high quality.
There is a restaurant literally steps away, and the arena and main piazza are only a little further.
It's a shame that management doesn't recognize the problems here which would be so easily fixed.

Having stayed before on our regular trips to the Opera and taken friends, our experience this year guarantees we will never stay here again, let alone embarrass ourselves by exposing unsuspecting friends to this hotel. The warning flags had already gone up when the unsmiling Receptionist snatched our Passports without even looking at us. Having booked and paid 7 months before to guarantee nice non-smoking rooms we were allocated a smoking room reeking of cigarettes with walls, ceiling, bed cover depressingly nicotine coloured. Having been told in advance that on arrival we would be taken to our parking slot, our dour Receptionist just issued a pass and told us to go and park on the street. There was no room service or bar available and the promised air freshener to mask the smell in our room never materialised, nor did the turn-down service. The 'full English breakfast' consisted of coffee that was stewed (in Italy!) and juice tasting off. Be warned, if you book on the internet then they have got your money already and don't give a fig for your complaints. Sadly, despite dreadful service, drear rooms and frosty front of house the location alone will guarantee bookings. Travesty!

The Colomba D'Oro is an elegant and stately motel located in an undiscovered gem of a city. We were very impressed with the beautiful suite that we had, including a spacious marble bathroom. The hotel is steps away from the Arena di Verona. The city itself is a feast for all the senses, great restaurants, shops, pedestrian friendly spaces, and fewer tourists than places like Venice or Rome. I would encourage any american heading to Italy to check out Verona and stay at the lovely Colomba D'Oro!
