“Excellent Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2014

Stayed for a week in this Hotel as we visited Verona and used as base for visiting surrounding areas. Room was spacious, huge bed ( really usual continental 2 beds together ). TV virtually all Italian channels, some English news channels. Breakfast was decent, selection of cereals, lots of fruit, some breads, scrambled eggs, tea / coffee, orange / grapefruit juices. Found staff to be very nice and most helpful. There is a LIDL around the corner if you need anything.

Rooms have A/C and were clean, nice bathroom ( bath / shower kind of thing, no shower curtain ). Wifi costs €2/day and is very quick and good is you are near a router ( which we were ). Tip look in corridor on ceiling for the router to see how close you are.

Did not use the spa / fitness centre while there but prices looked reasonable. Fitness centre freely available to guests from 5pm.

Taxi from airport costs €25-€30 and is the best option to get to/from hotel/airport.

Long walk to city centre, so don't bother ! Bus tickets which last for 90 minutes ( once you validate them on the bus ) cost €1.30 per trip, Reception sells tickets. The #11 bus stops every 20 minutes from just around the corner. However that stops running after 8pm so if you are coming home later get the 95 to the same stop, you need to check the times as this bus runs infrequently. Get the free hotel shuttle to town between 6-8 pm when the opera is on ( it returns after opera around midnight ).

The train / bus station is a good 20 minute walk away, so again get the bus. Bus stops right outside the train station. Recommend visiting Desenzano, beautiful little town on Lake Garda ( by train €4.25 each way ) and from there getting one of the ferries to visit towns around the lake. Sirmione return costs €6, Garda also worth visiting costs around €19 return on the ferry. Cheaper by bus but the boat trip is beautiful. Train also handy for visiting Venice.

If you do want to walk to the train station take a right by the river running just around the corner and walk staying by the river all the way until you see the station.

Would stay at this hotel again.

This hotel was very pleasant, we had a huge room, all the meals were very nice, it was all spacious including the on site parking. They were friendly with the dog and it was a very good place to stay.

Room Tip: There was no problem with having our well behaved do with us.

This is a very nice hotel, room is in well condition with big space and come with free car park, it's very important if you travel at Italy with car. It's located a little bit far from the centre of the old town but it would not be an issue if you are driving, just beware of ZTL zone inside the city.

Very nice hotel, beautiful room. Reminded me of my youth, in the days when we had wardrobes and dressing tables in our bedrooms. Spotlessly clean. Bathroom very nice.
Hotel is a bit out from historical center but the hotel shuttle is handy, and waits until the opera is finished for it's opera package customers. The night I saw Aida, it overran due to showers.
During the day, bus #11 operates from just around the corner. In an emergency, taxi from center back to hotel is <e10.
Food served at La Ginestra is really tasty, healthy. Very helpful waiter. Prices are OK. Great selection of cocktails at the bar. Busy restaurant.
Arianna, on reception is a lovely lady, very helpful.
Spa, in my opinion is significantly overpriced for the treatments offered.
Otherwise, I would say my opera package stay was worthwhile.
I would definitely stay at Hotel Leopardi for a return trip to Verona.

Why do you work at a hotel if you are not interested in making your guests feel welcome? Here the staff is clearly annoyed that you interrupt their "break" and the facilities are a documentation that no one cares. Aircondition leaking water, everything in need of an upgrade from reception, flowers, rooms, coffee - you name it.
Find somewhere else.
