Il Relais is less than a year old and they've got it just right. Not a hotel, but not you're traditional B&B, this is just like wandering into the pages of Vogue Living. Every inch of this hotel is thoughtfully designed and decorated - from the furniture to the fresh flowers and fruit in our room. We stayed in the Oriental room and its a perfect blend of antiques, comfort and modern amenities. The two juliet balconies with french doors gave you glimpses of the river and the double glazing and block out curtains left you to slumber in peace (after a long journey from Melbourne and a 1.30am finish at the opera we slept like logs).
Run by the delightful Alice, she gives you a quick run through how to operate everything in your room and leaves you in privacy until you show up for breakfast in the lovely dining room. Fresh juice, coffee, fruit, yoghurt and pastries were delicious.
Il Relais is perfectly located around 5 mins walk to the Arena and a short taxi ride from the train station (less than 10 euro). We didn't try the restaurant downstairs, but it looked lovely.
Il Relais is hard to fault - in fact, its pretty much perfect.More
