“Fab hotel for the money with excellent staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2014

Ok, so some of the reviews have picked up on the negative aspects of this hotel, but for the money, in the city, and the quality of service we got I find it very difficult to complain...

It's a three star hotel about 25 mins walk from the historical city of Verona so its walkable. It is also only 4 mins or so from the bus and train station so ideal as a good base. The area can be considered salubrious...there were a few women hanging around outside and we had to walk past a crowd of homeless people on the way back in the evening through a cut through, which was a little scarey, but nothing happened....its just not tantamount to the holiday vibe.. the other problem is that there are no shops or restaurants near the hotel so you can't just nip out for some food. Knowing that beforehand from the reviews we allowed for that.

The only other negative I can comment on was the positioning of the toilet against the shower. It was actually quite comical after a while. My husband and myself are not overly big, but anyone carrying a little bit too much Christmas weight would struggle to use that toilet easily. You are literally pressed up against the shower cubicle when on the toilet....on the other side with plenty of room is that often used bidet ; ) and I couldn't help wondering why didn't they switch them around....

Anyway, on to the positives.
The receptionists were all very friendly, very helpful and courteous and could not fault them. We asked for two extra pillows one morning and when we got back in the evening when they gave us our key they confirmed the pillows were now in our room. They gave us directions on how to get into the town, and offered to keep back our luggage on the last day before our flight. They also gave us suggestions on places to go before we flew back (it was raining so wandering around Verona was not top of our choices..). We ended up a at a shopping outlet about 8 miles out (you need a car and a Sat nav to get there for sure!) which was nice as it was a Sunday and open, with free parking.
The room was clean and tidy, and had been freshly painted (it still smelt of paint.....) We were in room 304 on the third floor facing the park (rather than the other side that faces the railway line). I had specifically asked for a quiet room in advance and this had been noted and actioned for when we arrived. There was a mini bar in our room, not free, but did serve a purpose when caught out for drinks.

Wi-fi is free for an hour each day, per device, so you can both use phones/tablets rather than fighting over the hour between you...

There are umbrellas at reception for the guests to use when its raining.

Breakfast is included in the room rate and whilst continental was surprisingly fresh and lots to choose from. Fresh meats, cheeses, rolls, cakes and pastries, cereals, fruits etc and the coffee was server fresh by the lady manning the breakfast bar.

The hotel also has free parking, now how many hotels can you find in Verona that can offer that....

Walls can be a bit thin when hearing the pipework and showers, and if you had people each side, above and below it could be quite noisy, although we were hardly disturbed by it.

My other half was critical of the hotel because of the area surrounding it, but having just come from a 4 star hotel at twice the cost in Lake Garda, apart from location and size of room I couldn't find much between them. For the money I think this is a brilliant hotel in which to base your stay in Verona and would be more than happy to stay there again.

Room Tip: Room 304 is away from the lift and faces the gardens

The hotel was located in a quiet place and we found relaxing staying there for two nights ; the room and the bathroom were smaller than expected.
The breakfast was really good, very nice, fresh food and the staff very nice and gentle.
You need to walk more than half an hour to reach the highlights of Verona; Verona is a very beautiful city with a lot to see and enjoy.

I had just one night as I was passing through on the train and wanted a convenient hotel. The problem is that the hotel is in an area with no bars or places to eat (unless the MacDonalds in the railway station counts!). The room I stayed in was street side and noisy early in the morning with foot traffic (did not help that in February I needed to keep the window open as it was stuffy even with the heating off). Not a good nights sleep overall. Service was very nice though. Reasonable value but would walk the extra 5 mins and stay at say the Best Westen on Corso Porta Nuova the next time with restaurants at hand.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel in January 2014. Not knowing how close it was to the station, we caught a taxi when we could have walked! The receptionist was fabulous. She took so much time to explain where things were, show us on maps and tell us about bus routes and the Verona 24 hour card. Using the card was great value. Our room was clean, tidy and had a window we could open out onto the street. The walk into town is about 20 - 30 minutes (depending on the way and how fast you walk) but it is not unpleasant. Otherwise public transport is about 5 minutes bus ride. Breakfast was fruits, cereals, juices, meat/cheeses and an assortment of cakes etc - a nice way to start the day. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who was planning a short or extended trip to Verona and would stay again.

The rooms are spacious and clean with comfy beds. The breakfast is awesome and the staff is very helpful. Note that this hotel is not close to the center town (30 min walk) but is very close to the bus/train station (2 min walk) if you plan to use public transport. It was an easy 5 min bus ride into town center and we also took the train to Venice one day. Overall great stay!

This hotel is near the main railway station but some distance from the centre of Verona. Staff were very friendly and welcoming (there is a big bowl of sweets on reception they are delicious). Breakfast was fresh and we had plenty to eat but there was not much variety. Rooms were spacious, clean and tidy. Reception staff helpful with maps and bus routes to town centre. I would stay here again.

We stayed at the Hotel Rossi the night of the 5th December on a stop-over to the Dolomites. We wanted to stay close to the station, and this is very close. If you are travelling reasonably light it is within walking distance. We don’t travel light so it wasn’t; a taxi was about 5 Euros. The hotel is very pleasant and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The room was clean, warm and quirky (which we happen to like).

We decided to see the Christmas market and have a meal, some reviews say it’s a short walk to most parts of the city; realistically it’s a bit more than that, maybe 5-10 mins by taxi (between 8-10 Euros) depending on where you wanted to go. We didn't have much time to see much of Verona but the Christmas market was great, and we got the impression this is a lovely city. We ate in a restaurant called the La Taverna di Via Stella, recommended by the hotel. The place was really busy, always a good sign, and the food was delicious.

We had a comfortable night’s sleep at the hotel, breakfast was typically continental, but was ok.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
