My wife and I with another couple stayed at Hotel Torcolo in beautiful Verona, Italy for three days. An old friend who travels yearly to Italy recommended it and she was absolutely right!

Ambience: Hotel Torcolo is a family owned hotel located just two short blocks from the famous Verona Arena and adjacent to the Piazza Bra. This is an older but well maintained hotel with an excellent Italian restaurant and bar just steps away. Torcolo also has its own small restaurant with good food as well. The hotels has stairs and a small elevator. No real view, but that didn't matter because the views are only steps away outside.Hotel is centrally located to all the sites and the on-off bus near the front city gates.

Rooms were of decent size for Europe. Beds were comfortable. Baths decently appointed and Internet was available, albeit a bit temperamental from time to time. We did get good Internet outside on the dining patio which was fine.

Service: Exceptional from the owner Aria to the front desk staff. Everyone was friendly and very helpful. Our first day was somewhat stressful due to bad weather getting into town but the desk clerk fixed us all up with a complimentary glass of wine. They immediately made friends for life. Now THAT's a class act. Bravo! Staff was also very helpful to provide information and directions to attractions including the Opening Night at Opera. Mama Mia!

Tip: I highly suggest this gem of a hotel if you are traveling to Verona, our favorite city in Italia.

We found this hotel to be perfect for us. It is central to the city, with very nice rooms, bathrooms, class, and breakfasts. High value also. We are a family of 3, Mom and 2 college students. This location allowed us to go in all directions for sigh seeing, plus it is so near the Colosseum and also walkable to/from the train station. Perfect value and wonderful staff and owner. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: We had a view out over the front of the hotel, and liked it. No street noise either.

We stayed in late May. We were but a couple minute walk from the ancient Roman arena and the main piazza, Piazza Bra. Great location on a side street. Warm and helpful staff. English was no problem. Our little Westie dog was greeted warmly. When we checked out they made sure we understood how to leave the city and even suggested sites to see for our next Italian destination. We would book this hotel again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Large corner rooms. Higher floors might have less noise.

Trying to collect snowballs in Hell is easier than booking a hotel in Verona during the Opera season when 20,000 people are looking for a bed! We were only going to be there for two nights. Just go to the concert and then back home but finding a 4-star hotel within walking distance of the Arena of Verona was impossible so we lowered our sights till we found the Torcolo. Fortunately, though it was only a 2-star, this hotel was praised by a lot of people so, we tried it and we were very happy that we did.

Hotel Torcolo is the equivalent of a 4-star and, when I asked why it wasn't, I was informed that it was just a question of not having a Lounge. It's decor is lovely, it's rooms large, it's fully air-conditioned, breakfast - Continental - good, service all you could wish for and the staff very, very friendly and helpful. However, it's biggest plus is the location, just a hundred meters from the Arena. In fact, we were so pleased with our stay there that we will return when next in Verona!

My brother and our wives enjoyed three wonderful, although rainy days, visiting Verona in April. A key element in making our visit comfortable was Hotel Torcolo which is located in a central area just off of Piazza Bra and the major shopping areas. This is a small well run, very clean hotel which offers guests a quality experience. Our room was comfortable, very clean and nicely appointed. A breakfast is available (extra charge) that provides guests with a relatively good selection of food choices. The hotel staff was very helpful in providing information on major attractions and suggestions regarding local services. I was especially pleased with Caterina and Riccardo’s quick and comprehensive responses to several of my emails when planning our vacation. We found Hotel Torcolo to be a good find that offers both accessibility and “home style” comfort.

This hotel lies in a parallel street opposite of the Arena. The room is clean and functional.
We stayed only one night. However I would never stay in this hotel during hot season (because there is no airconditioning) or if you like to sleep with open window. The street can be noisy due to the restaurant and bars/hotel in the neighborhood. The hotel itself has no parking (misleading on the website). The recommended parking is 200 meters away but you can still drive up to the hotel for unloading your luggage. However the price for such a great location is very reasonable and the personell is very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Maybe a room not out to the street is quieter, but not sure. In case you'd like to sleep in, don...

I just would like to answer that the hotel HAS AIR CONDITIONING in EVERY ROOM plus the rooms in the top floor have extra AIR CONDITIONING that can be regulated directly by the clients with a remote control.
The air conditioning is on from beginning of May (or before if needed) to minimum end of September ( if is still hot we week it on ) and it is alternative to the eating that is on in winter.
All the rooms are double-gassed to avoid the noise of the city center a little yellow book is in the room with this instruction.
Also we are very much client oriented so if the lady would have phoned the reception we could tell her how to switch it on ( if may be it has been turned of by the clients before).
Never think to call too much: we are here at your service!
