The key feature of this hotel is location. It's a 4-5 minutes walk to Arena.
There are two parkings nearby - Parking Arena (for vehicles under 2 meters height) and Garage Italia.
Also staff were very helpful providing a pot of hot water for tea, champagne glasses and so on, helping with parking and dealing with doctor and local hospital.
The rooms are ok and nicely designed (we lived in 2 different rooms) but may be a bit small for its price.
And I think that breakfast may seem poor and they offered the same menu every day (at least while 2 weeks in January:) but the croissants were fresh and tasty!

Not a good experience in this hotel. Cramped room furnished poorly as if donated by a charity. Bathroom small and no hot water on first night there - was told we could go to another section of the hotel for a shower late at night! Useless fridge.Very limited and poor quality breakfast in a bvleak room - did not encourage us to eat there. Nowhere to sit downstairs and what they called a bar area was disgraceful - small dark and pokey.

Only 1 good thing: the staff were helpful with guidance for local restaurant
Mastino is in a good position near city wall and Piazza Bra and the Arena, however it is right next to McDonalds.
Also there are far better hotels on the opposite side of the same street which were charging less for far superior facilities and room and also less for parking. Suggest you consider Hotel Trieste whch presents far better and was less expensive at the time we were there; or Hotel Verona which is very contemporary and new and also less per night for a standard room. We hope hotels such as these two overtake old delapidated hotels such as Mastino which are very out of date and do not seem to have any money spent on them and yet still overcharge unsuspecting visitors to the city.

This hotel is right outside the gates of the old city on a very busy thoroughfare. The location is great for walking into the city and seeing the sights.

My room was very large with an updated large bathroom with tub. Actually it was quite nice. The bathroom shade wouldn't go down though and no one ever came to fix it :(.

However the lasting impression I came away with was that I could hear everything in the room next to me. No sleeping here................

We booked two rooms and both were clean and big enough for the four of us. The location is OK, although it was a surprise for us that the hotel is located above a McDonald's, however, there was absolutely any food smells during our stay, The hotel is located in the main turistic corridor, so there is a lot of traffic and people. Our rooms were in the "back" and we could not hear any noise during the nigths. Breakfast was in line with european standard, so it was not big. Parking lot is located 2 blocks away (we arrived by car) but it was nice to have it available (extra cost) because there is no parking places in the city.

Only problem, front desk men thinks we is making a favour to the guest, treating them very rude and unpoliteness, however, the ladies were very nice.

From the hotel description on the website you would think this is a boutique hotel. The only factual info is that it is in the centre of town. Its ground floor is shared with a Mcdonalds with all the noise smell and rubbish that incurs but the two rooms we were shown bore no relation with the photos on the web. They were small, had very poor lighting and no natural light, and were furnished in dark colours, totally unlike the rooms shown on the photos. The staff were not helpful when we complained and have not replied to our complaint by emails.

If you are going to the opera and want to be able to walk to all the beautiful sights Verona has to offer this is the ideal hotel for you. The rooms are spotless and not too small. The breakfast was excellent. Yes it is a little expensive on opera nights but that sort of balances out with the price of the opera tickets. I could not believe we could be so entertained for around 30euro(with cushion). We went to see Aida and it was just spectacular and of course the venue can not be beaten, it was magical. Enjoy!

Hotel Mastino is a good 3-star hotel. It is expensive for a 3-.star but then Verona is expensive during the opera season and compared to the other alternatives we got a fairly good deal. As has been said before by previous posters, the location is good just minutes from the Arena. Although definitely no snobs, before arriving we were a little put off by the McDonalds downstairs and the thought of loud crowds hanging around but this is nothing to worry about. Strangely enough it blends in and has more of the new McDonalds cafe style look rather than brash plastic.

Breakfast was basic but good by Italian standards and the staff were friendly. Breakfast is until 11am which is great.

There was no Do Not Disturb sign in our room and reception did not have one which was very irritating as on the first morning we were woken once at 0730 by mistake by staff and again by housekeeping at 0930 (we like to lie in!). On the second night, when reception yet again could not find a sign during the day, the helpful guy on the front desk that night made us a home-made one.

You have to get a key for the garage and one was not available when we checked in so we parked in the Arena Car Park which was acutally cheaper for 24 hours that the hotel and more accessible. If you do not intend to use your car in Verona (just to arrive and leave), this is a good alternative.

Apart from the Do Not Disturb blip (for which they apologised), it was an enjoyable stay.
