“Middle-rate hotel in the suburbs of Verona”

Sud Point provides simple and not expensive accomodation pretty far from Verona center and from any attractions but very close to highways. It was one night stay for us and this is the proper use for Sud Point. Funny, but first room we got there was under construction and the stuff didn't know about that. The second one was fine, but small, but clean:-) The breakfast - OK. All in all this place was fine for it's money if you don't expect anything special.

Hotel Sud Point is a typical highway hotel without much charm. Our room reminded me a little of a hospital room but nothing can be said about cleanliness. If you're looking for something more homey, don't stay at this hotel. This hotel's location is not very central so I wouldn't recommend it if you're not traveling by car. Highway access is very close which is convenient if you're traveling south and you want to avoid morning traffic in the city. Contrary to our apprehension there was no traffic noise that bothered us but instead the goings-on of the other people on our floor were quite audible. Breakfast buffet was good: A coffee machine with different choices of coffee, cereal, bread, muffins etc. I'd stay here again for one night but certainly not any longer.

I stayed at this particular hotel only for a short stop (one night) in Verona when passing by. What is distinct for this hotel is it's location, which is both good and bad. It's very easy to get to by car from the autostrada but it is some distance (~5km) from central Verona with so-so communications. My friends and I ended up getting a taxi for approx. 15 EUR one way. It's also very close to the airport and I guess a taxi-ride to/from there would cost less than 15 EUR. The neighborhood seemed safe but industrial (far from scenic) and there's also an Ibis-hotel very nearby. Parking (free) is not an issue and the parking lot is under video surveillance.

Quality of rooms is on par with what you'd expect in this price range (63 EUR for a std twin room) and I found nothing to complain about in terms of standard or cleaning. The A/C was very welcome when the mercury hit 38 degC outside. The continental breakfast (which was included at this rate, but not in all rates) is OK but not great. Even though this hotel is very close to the autostrada and the airport there was no noise inside the hotel. Internet is expensive at 6 EUR per hour but works well.

I wouldn't hesitate to stop by again for a night or two but I wouldn't stay a week.

I was traveling by car with my two adult children when we decided at Bolzen to spend the night and next day in Verona. We found Point Sud through to hotel service for Verona. Point Sud is a few km from the center of town, but easily reachable by car. It is near the highway and has free parking (or a paid garage if you prefer). The staff was extremely helpful both in helping us find our way into and around Verona as well as helping us find a place to stay in Padova for the next night. The price was reasonable and the room comfortable and clean.

  • Liked — Helpfulness of staff
  • Disliked — It was not a problem for us, but a car is necessary if you stay here and visit Verona

Travellers:

We recently stayed at Hotel Sud. We booked online and were told our room would cost a certain price. Upon arrival our bill was about 12 EUROS more than our quoted price. We paid it because we had already paid for the cab ride out. We were, however told that because it was the hotel's mistake that we would be given a reduced price the following night. Because we were backpacking and on a fixed budget, we thought this was a great idea. Upon check out the 2 days later, they acted as if they had never told us about the reduced price. So, needless to say we paid way too much for an okay hotel. The rooms were clean, and the service was only fair. The other piece of false advertisement (and the only reason we chose this hotel) was because it was advertised to have free internet. We got there just to find out the internet was not working. It would have been really nice to know this because we had to book accomodations for the next following week. This was very disappointing and it put us in a tight spot for the next few days. We questioned the hotel about it and they offered no sort of anything, not even an apology. I would just like to wish everyone happy travels, and be careful when booking a hotel!
