“Expensive but very good”
Reviewed 30 September 2012

Hotel Giulietta e Romeo is a relatively expensive hotel but still good value. It is modern and clean, has an excellent location within a fifteen minute walk of all the main sights, has an elevator that actually fits two people and suitcases, and for those who like stairs they are wide, carpeted and comfortable. The front desk staff are very good, especially Judith who was ever-ready to help with a smile and very good english. But to single her out is probably a bit unfair as all the staff here were good. We had the only top floor room overlooking the rooftops to the arena with our own balcony which may explain why we thought it was expensive at 210 euros a night but it was very nicely furnished with an excellent shower (huge by Italian standards, but with no tissues, which seems to be an Italian hotel feature (big or small, cheap or expensive) that I find annoying. Room lighting was very good and the wifi was free and fast. If there is a loud pop concert on you may not like this room - we enjoyed one for free and it was noisy (but good!), but a couple of nights before the last opera of the season was playing and little of the sound carried up to us, alas. Location is excellent, close to everything, nothing more than a 20 minute walk away. The staff's dinner recommendations, for both cheap and expensive places, were faultless. For the price, the included breakfast was a little disappointing. Plenty of food and good espresso, but the serving area was cramped, the juices not of high standard, and the fruit salad was that ghastly bulk packaged stuff brought it. But there was a lot of good whole fruit, and you could boil your own eggs. Cheese selection was nothing great but OK, pastries were very good.

Highly recommend if you can fit it into your budget.

Room Tip: Avoid the top floor balcony room if a pop concert is scheduled for the Arena

Late September 2012, 3 nights, Room #210
This was our first stop on 17 night Northern Italy, Switzerland, Germany trip and it is going to be hard to top this city!
Hotel is perfectly located near the arena and the center of everything.
Large queen size comfortable (firm) bed. Beautiful clean hardwood floors.
Very clean modern bathroom - a bit small but functions well.
One of the most quiet rooms we have ever had! We know there are a lot of guests staying here but no noise from other rooms - no noise from the outside other than church bells!
Good breakfast. WiFi works perfectly. Easy 20 minute walk to/from train station.
Enjoyed meals at Osteria Verona in Piazza Erbe, Impero in Piazza Signori, Osteria Sottoriva, La Taverna di via Stella.
Took day train trips to Vicenza and Padua.
Be sure to try a Spritz Aperol - the festive orange drink you see everyone drinking.
We love Verona - it was everything we hoped we would find in Italy and one place we would love to return to and would definitely stay at Giulietta e Romeo again!

This is a cosy hotel in a small lane and was very comfortable. Close to the arena and the main square. The shopping district is close by. The staff are excellent and keen to give you ideas of things to do and see. The hotel also has a great breakfast. Would stay here again without doubt.

Room Tip: Superior room is large and comfortable

This was my second time at this lovely hotel and I am so happy to have chosen it again! The staff are very helpful and nice, the rooms are excellent and very cozy, the breakfast is basic but very good, and the location ... ah, the location! It couldn't be better: a few steps from the Arena (120 meters?) and from the charming Via Mazzini, which takes you to the main attractions of the city. Detail: the hotel also has excellent apartments right there, next to the main structure - large, complete and perfect for a family or a group of friends. This year I got there by train, but last time I drove and they took my car to a parking by payment with no problems. Attention, narrow streets to get there! Grazie, Giulio and Anna, I´m sure we will see each other again.

We stayed in Verona for one night and could not have picked a better hotel! The rooms are small, but very functional, which is typical in Europe. The bed was very comfortable and the room/bathroom were very clean. The air conditioning was definitely appreciated as it was very hotel outside.

The location is probably the best you will find in Verona. You are within walking distance to touristy stuff, shopping, the main square, fantastic restaurants, etc. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was just what we needed with delicious coffee and a lot to choose from for an Italian breakfast.

If we are every in Verona again, we will be at the Giulietta e Romeo.

We had an overnight in Verona, Italy and absolutely loved this hotel. We traveled with 17-month old twins and the staff was accommodating and lovely to all of us. Excellent location! Parked the car and walked everywhere the entire day.

Room Tip: We had an adjoining room for the children, well worth the extra money.
