Lovely hotel in a great location. The staff were very friendly and very helpful with restaurant bookings and train times.
Only gripes were that there were no ironing boards / irons - all ironing had to be done by the staff for a fee and there water was not provided as part of the turn down service.

We stayed at the Antica Porta Leona for two nights in September in the Tosca Junior Suite. We would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Verona.

First and foremost, the location of the hotel is excellent – just a few minutes’ walk from just about everything you want to see. It is centrally located but on a quiet side street which made it ideal.

The room was nice, though I was glad that I booked the Junior Suite as it was a bit small (welcome to Europe!) and I think the next category down might have been rather cramped. The room looked out onto an interior garden which was quite pretty and, again, very quiet. The bathroom was small but nicely updated. My only complaint about the room was that the bed could have been more comfortable.

Breakfast was very good with a selection of breads, meats, cheeses, etc. as well as scrambled eggs for those of us looking for a bit more. The cappuccino was excellent!

The bar area is fine, though rather small. You can definitely get a drink but as others have commented there really is not anywhere to sit and hang out (you can sit in the reception area if you like).

One small negative is that there really is no concierge to speak of; the staff was generally helpful but it was not really the same thing. We asked for help buying train tickets in advance and were told it was best to do so at the station. Unfortunately, once at the station we had the same problem we had experienced online – we could not use our US credit card. It would have been nice for the hotel to assist, but it was not possible apparently. So bear in mind that you may not receive the level of assistance of 5-star hotel.

All in all, I would definitely recommend the hotel and would stay again should we return to Verona.

Overpriced and stuffy. Fine stay, but nothing extraordinary for the price. Staff not very helpful (with places to eat) or welcoming. Location is great - walking distance to all sights and main plazas. Rooms are clean. Beds are hard, but that seems to be consistent throughout Italy (or at least the places we stayed). Downstairs grotto pool is worth a visit especially if you have it to yourselves as we did. Buffet breakfast is set out nicely, but same as what you receive at most other hotels.

My husband and I spent my wedding night at Hotel Antica Porta Leona. We stayed in the contemporary-decorated executive double room, my favourite, as I don't really like the baroque furnishing of the other rooms. We only stayed one night, but it was very enjoyable. The room was spacious and impeccably presented, clean and everything was perfectly working. Breakfast was varied, tasty and well-presented, served in a beautifully decorated dining room. We also used to heated pool, very relaxing, the icing on the cake!
I grew up in Verona so I knew that the location was absolutely perfect as you can easily walk everywhere in the city centre for shopping, art and history walks, dining.
I absolutely recommend staying here.

Exceptionally clean hotel, modernised well-equipped rooms and bathrooms. Not the type of place for dinner or drinks but great breakfasts and we had the occasional drink from the bar on our way out in the evening which did the job - the bar has 4 seats so they do not encourage you to use the hotel for that purpose, although you can use their beautiful reception as a lounge. The place was very handy for walking everywhere and a good place to lay your head after eating and drinking in one of the many wonderful restaurants in Verona. They do have an underground pool which looked very nice but we had no time to use.

Top quality boutique hotel in a perfect location in downtown Verona. It's 5 minutes from the Arena (amazing musical spectaculars there - well worth seeing), within 10 minutes of anywhere, and a 20 minute fixed-fare taxi ride from the airport.

Just 30 seconds off of the beaten track which means it's not plagued by noisy cobbled street traffic.

Breakfast served in the elegant dining room, with faultless service. Good selection of cereals, fruits, breads, cheese, meat and some cooked items, and of course proper espresso-driven coffee available on request.

Room average size (but not unexpectedly for a downtown location), but with fine furnishings. Very clean, as was the bathroom, and with good quality linens and towels. Excellent shower.

Efficient and unobtrusive airconditioning, which actually can keep the room cool, unlike many hotels.

Free wifi included - as it should be in any top quality hotel.

Really cannot fault this hotel and will be returning without question.

Fell in love with this hotel on trip advisor and was worried it might not live up to its reviews. Thank god it was exactly as I imagined it. I have to stress on it's superb location first! It's close to everything you would want to see in Verona just a short walk from the arena and Juliet's balcony. The rooms are not so spacious but when you see how cozy the hotel is you will instantly forget about that. Toilets are large and modern with very nice walk in showers. Breakfast was normal and staff were great and helpful... Some wear and tear evident on the walls but nothing a quick paint job won't fix in the future. Worth every penny and will come back for sure. Made my stay in Verona wonderful...
