“Great atmosphere all around”

Getting there by car on a Saturday afternoon is somewhat nerve wrecking (closed streets etc.), but once there, it is a great experience. Wonderful location around the Piazza Erbe, beautiful interior full with antiques and a spacious room. The hotel has probably not more than 25 rooms, so the crammed breakfast saloon is filled up neatly. The breakfast itself, however was a bit disappointing for an hotel at this price. Internet in the room did not work, only in the bathroom. Lovely staff. There is a parking service for the car, not cheap though. To be recommended, but only at a discounted price.

We spent two nights here and loved it! The location is perfect for sight seeing, dining and the Arena opera (which is a magnificent thing to do!!!). The room was lovely - old fashioned furnishings and a bit "Victorian" feeling - but very comfortable and clean and not at all fussy. Best shower of our two week European vacation, and a deep bathtub too.

The lounges and dining room were all quiet and sweetly furnished. My son especially loved "talking" to the parrots in the indoor garden - Romeo and Juliet!! Our nearby dinner was terrific, and the hotel staff were 100% friendly and helpful. They printed out a shuttle schedule for us to help with transport to the Venice airport, and couldn't have been nicer in bringing drinks, maps, etc.

I would definitely stay here again!

Stayed late June 2014

Very comfortable beds , quirky room. Hotel is in the heart of the old town. Breakfast was great too. Only issue was that junior suite we stayed in didn't have a window nor balcony . Would stay again but clarify those issues before choosing the room

Old fashioned charm and interior decoration. An old town palace into which (with some difficulty) an hotel was squeezed in but the style was 19th century not as one would have expected, the time the place was built. No room alike. No restaurant (but many good around the corner). Most friendly and attentive personnel. Breakfast excellent. Perfect for getting a feel for the old and charming city of Verona but not as a holiday restort. Perfect for visiting the famous and fantastic opera.

Room Tip: No room alike

A prefect location in Verona. Close to all the "must see" attractions. The staff are super friendly and helpful consistently. The building is old, and consequently things will potentially falter. The lift was out of action briefly, but that didn't stop the staff carrying both our heavy cases down the stairs at check out! Great service.

The hotel doesn't have an in-house restaurant, but you are spoilt for choice in every direction just outside the front door, so that is not an issue. Their in-house breakfast is amazing! Our room was charming, and extremely quiet.

We would stay at the Gabbia again for sure if we return to Verona. It's wonderful.

We stayed here for the second time and loved it just as much as we had last year. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, the rooms are romantic, filled with antique furniture and a bit quirky, so oozing atmosphere, but the bathrooms are more conventional and absolutely first class. The hotel is in a great location five minutes walk from the arena and right on Piazze Erbe, but despite the fact that Verona in June is still buzzing at 1am we weren't troubled by noise at all. The only disadvantage is the same one that we get in almost every Italian hotel we have ever stayed in, which is that the beds are rock hard!

Gorgeous hotel in 16 century building just off piazza erbe right in centre of old town. Beautiful room with all mod cons but in an atmosphere of antiquity. There are a series of comfy little lounges, one with friendly parrots in, and an ancient private courtyard. If you order a cocktail they bring you the equivalent of high tea with it. Staff are lovely. Can't recommend it highly enough.
