Great place to see/hear operas. Should have taken a fleece as, unusually, it got quite chilly after 21.00. The most fitting operas for this venue are Aida and Nabucco.

“A Very Special Experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 August 2014

Saw the opera Aida on a late August Sunday evening. Opera is not my favorite entertainment but the location, staging, performances, etc. were extraordinary. Expect to pay New York City type prices for proper seats but I couldn't imagine sitting 4 hours on a backless stone bench.

“Romeo and Juliet Opera”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 August 2014

the sun sets and the light plays with the stones of this majestic Arena, as this place that the coasting along. Side show, with the sunset, the first accents shows me why I love Romeo and Juliet. This version enchants me, that modernism in the staging is not without recalling the version directed by Baz Luhrmann in 1996 scenario Michel Jules Barbier Carrè take cal too. The art should not be a straitjacket. Is not it good that creators utlise their genius and particularism. Picasso, Dali, Magritte did not you geniuses. I am proud to grow my knowledge of art which were incidentally absence since being self-taught. Thank you to those geniuses who evolve my focus (in cognitive linguistics, this is the point on which to focus our attention.) The show is wonderful, and what about the costumes, too magifiques. The fragility of Lana Kos is reminiscent of Claire Danes. So a warm thank you. then the critics of all stripes, so be as great as these creators. CREATE IS AN ART, CRITICIZE, CRITICIZE there will always be something.

“Skip "Romeo & Juliette" - Save yourself the pain and the money! See something else.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2014

Tonight's performance of "Romeo et Juliette" at the Arena di Verona is a travesty. Vittorio Grigolo and Lana Kos created the title roles with great commitment, chemistry and beautiful voices. That is where the evening's magic ended. The production is simple horrific. Keep in my that I appreciate both traditional, new-concept productions. "R&J" is a classic, universal tale that can easily take on new interpretations (think "West Side Story"), However, this production with it's outer-space costumes, bat-mobile, and other gimmicks takes the listener away from the gorgeous music into a land of silly and distracting garbage.

In all fairness, I have attended other more successful productions here....but, be sure to skip "R&J" until they replace this production.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2014

We watched Madam Butterfly in the arena and it was breathtaking. It was easy to just buy tickets on the day - we bought the cheapest on the stone steps - and just had the best view. The steps can get a little uncomfortable by the end so if you can take a cushion I would advise it! if sitting in the stone steps make sure you go to the loo first. We were sat on the steps to the right of the stage entering by Gate 15. if you needed the loo you had to exit the arena walk right round the opposite side to Gate 51 where the toilets were sited. Take cardigans or jumpers with you because on the evening we were there it was quite breezy and a little chilly. Well worth a visit for €22 each
